New Orleans To Be In Top 10 SWA Airports

Tue Sep 11, 2012 10:43 pm

From the source at the bottom, Southwest will be at 114 daily flights from MSY by March.

While we knew their would be an increase with new Newark and Key West flights but there has been no post that it would be in the top 10.

From the current SWA fact sheet it would pass LAX, OAK and MCO. Is this all true or is this source wrong because this is actually big news if it is true.

I think it means 114 total operations, takeoffs and landings.

Well that would make sense, poor writing from the author though.

Hmmm, interesting thread and article. And pretty much unbelievable.

I just went through the March 10, 2013 WN .pdf schedule for MSY and here's a list of # of weekday departures:
BWI...3
BHM..2
MDW.2
DAL...8
DEN..2
FLL...3
HOU.10
MCI...1
EYW.1
LAS...2
LAX...1
MKE..1
BNA..4
EWR.1
MCO..4
PHX..1
STL...2
TPA..4
TOTAL...52 daily departures for WN.

So I guess if FL comes in at 5 daily flights, and both totals are doubled, that would equal 114 daily flights -- arrivals and departures together. So yes, as already mentioned by others, poorly, or misleadingly, written article.

In any case it is nice to see NOLA get some new flights and routes.
