I guess this is sometime between 1979 & 1989. Where was this gate area?

I could be mistaken but I do believe that gate was from the Interim terminal that USAir was in for a while. It was Hangar 11 that was converted into a terminal for USAir, that they later shared with Delta, and was converted back into a Hangar after the new terminal was opened.

I don't think so. I lived there for the beginning of the period of the Interim Terminal and I never recall BAC 1-11 aircraft (or that colorscheme) at that terminal.

This is definitely not the interim terminal. All the boarding bridges connected from the upper level. I believe this is the old North concourse that was demolished in the early/mid '90s to make room for the new terminal.

This was an area close to the old Eastern and Pan Am Shuttle .. It was a dreadful part of the terminal that was south of the Interim Terminal and North of the original Main Terminal Building. This area was demolished at about the same time the Interim Terminal was being constructed.

Prior to US Air moving to the Interim terminal, they used gates 15,16,17 in the Main Terminal
These gates were on the lower level of the AA concourse

Hey cool! I remember scanning in that map and posting it to A.net years ago.

One thing..when the North Terminal was demolished (located where the southernmost pier of the B/C terminal now exists), Pan Am took over these gates (lower level of the gate 9-17 pier) - 15 and 16 were used by mainline Pan Am and Express while the Shuttle used 17. At about the same time, US Air and Delta/Delta Connection moved to the Interim Terminal. I assume Delta took over the 15-17 gates when they bought the Shuttle from Pan Am. Anyway, this pier was demolished in the mid-90s.

OK, I know where that was, but WOW, connecting from USAir to/from Allegheny Commuter wasn't easy.

Nope, it probably wasn't. There WAS a Commuter Terminal building located in the area of the parking lot on that old map - it was to the north of the gates at the very end of the North Terminal (if I remember right, that's where Piedmont had their gates). Allegheny Commuter and Henson flew out of there, in addition to a few other small-time operators. The CT was demolished sometime before US/DL ops moved over to the Interim Terminal.
