A TUI AG Airline Orders E Jets?

Sun Sep 16, 2012 12:48 pm

On the news page on http://www.skyliner-aviation.de/ it states that "TUI Airlines Belgium" which is Jetairfly have ordered E190s. Is this true? I thought all TUI AG airlines other than Corsair International were becoming all Boeing?

Yes, they will replace their single remaining B737-400 and B737-500 by the two EMB-190s: http://www.ch-aviation.ch/portal/new...o-emb-190s-for-deliveries-in-2013. They had previously also operated a Fokker 100 for some time. I guess they mainly need the smaller aircraft for leisure routes that do not have enough demand to justify B737s. In Belgium, there are no other 100 seaters with other carriers with the exception of Brussels Airlines which is however cutting the number of 100 seat aircraft right now. So that most probably explains the thinking behind the order. I was very surprised as well though when it was originally announced.

Correct,

TUI Airlines Belgium NV (dba JetairFly) has ordered 2 EMB-190's. In addition to this the airline (which is now a scheduled airline rather then a charter airline and the 2nd largest in Belgium (and the 3th biggest in the TUI group)) will receive 6 factory new planes in 2013:

- Embraer ERJ-190: 2 planes
- Boeing 737-8K5(WL): 3 planes
- Boeing 787-8K5: 1 plane

JetairFly (JAF/TB) has also took over all business of Jet4you, the Marrocon TUI charter airline which was owned through TUI Airlines Belgium NV. All planes from Jet4you are allready on the Belgium aircraft register and are flying with JetairFly titles (think nearly all of them are also repainted into the company blue color scheme).

Currently it operates a fleet of 21 planes including 2 planes it uses from ArkeFly and Thomson:

11x Boeing 737-800
4x Boeing 737-700
1x Boeing 737-400
1x Boeing 737-500
2x Boeing 767-300ER
1x Boeing 737-800 leased from ArkeFly
1x Boeing 737-800 leased from Thomson

Total: 21 planes

At the end of 2013:

14x Boeing 737-800 (3 new to be delivered during 2013)
4x Boeing 737-700
2x Embraer EMB-190 (new to be delivered during 2013)
1x Boeing 767-300ER
1x Boeing 787-8K5 (new to be delivered at the end of 2013)

Total: 22 planes

Leaving the fleet during 2013:

OO-JAT (Boeing 737-500), OO-JAM (Boeing 737-400) & OO-TUC (Boeing 767-300ER)
