US Airways Seating Layout Changes

Sun Sep 16, 2012 4:36 pm

Hi,

A friend of mine says he heard a TV news clip about US making a major change to a/c seat configurations, but I have been unable to find such a news article.

Can anyone provide some insight on possible seat changes at US?

They're adding a handful of seats to the A321 fleet, but that's all I've heard. That was announced maybe a half year ago.

Thanks, PHLWok. Does anyone know how those additional seats will affect the overall configuration on the 21, e.g. fewer first class seats?

In my opening post, gizmonc, I indicated I could not find any references to this news, which means I conducted internet searches, including google. Obviously, I was unable to find the link you provided. So, I appreciate the info, but not so much the 'yelling' at me about google searches.

Really. How were you supposed to find that without 'A321' as a search term? Doesn't sound like a major change either-- perhaps editorial license about cramming more seats in the same space.

Dang a 187 seat A321 is going to have a nice CASM (for a legacy carrier anyway).

The only seating layout change US needs to do is convert those "choice" seats into more spacious seats.

Welcome to a.net, my friend.

More seats in coach? Now that's a surprise. I know, I know, you get what you pay for (Xcltflyboy I added that to address the attacks that will surely follow from what I am about to say!) but cramming us poor folk in coach makes for an extremely uncomfortable trip.

After reading the attached articles it sounds like even though the US A-321's will gain 4 seats the existing seats will suffer no loss of pitch with the exception of the current row 22BCDE which will end up with likely the same pitch the non exit row seats have and the current 22AF will stay the same as far as exit row legroom. Actually the 321s have a surprising amount of legroom and nice seat pitch so a little loss of each probably won't be that bad. I mean it's not like we're talkin about NK here
