"The 3 remaining 772A model old international configuration aircraft (768, 772, 779 are to be converted into Hawaiian/Domestic configuration to fly IAD/EWR/IAH-HNL."

Do the 772A models have the range for IAD-HNL (4186nm) and EWR-HNL (4312nm)? I thought that the range for these birds was 4200nm.

Boeing's website shows the 772-200 (A) has a range of 5240NM. In comparison, the 764ER, which has been flying for a long time EWR-HNL has a range of 5625NM per Boeing's website.

752 Globe Paint update:
N563UA exited VCV Ferry flight 6874/2Oct
N593UA entered VCV ferry flight 6853/1Oct.

On a side note, N593UA is the only sUA 752 wsith leather seats. The seat map on United.com shows a different configuration 24F, 84E+, 90Y=198. There's no way this aircraft has 16 more seats than the regular 752, especially with 84E+ seats. Does anyone know about this aircraft.

5093 is actually 24F/162Y. When they put the slimline seats in, they were able to add an extra row of seats. The extra row was added at the overwing emergency exits, and they only added 4 seats not 6.

I hope EWR-HNL and IAD-HNL will be operated by two class international 764. Both times I've flown the EWR-HNL-EWR nonstops (2008, 2012) have been on International configured 764s. The flight we took last months was one of the newly reconfigured with the AVOD, made a huge difference on the almost ten hour flight.

Does anyone know what's going on with those 8 ERJ-145 from COEX? Are they likely painted and just not confirmed?

The repainting of the 744 fleet is still very slow, much slower than on all other sub-fleets. Too busy flying?

The seat maps on United.com don't match up. Going to the United website Inflight services>Aircraft>Boeing 757 to look up different versions, it appears 5093 has a row 33 added and all other seats are the same as the regular version. That version is shown as 24F/50E+/114Y= 188.
Looing at flight information for Flight 328/1Oct, the seat map shows totally different numbering and row 7 ABCD, which is in the entry doorway. the E+/Y split looks weird and seat numbers end with Row 35 vs. Row 40.

5093 just went in for paint so we won't see it for at least ten days. I not sure of the E/E+ breakdown, but there are 162 coach seats.

Just a slight correction. It was N452UA that came out of paint early this morning.

What's going on with N663UA? It's been at GSO since early September.

http://flightaware.com/live/flight/N663UA

N663UA is a 1998 build 763, it's currently in a three class configuration but it's been rumored that this aircraft is going to be converted to the new international two class configuration.

Looks like it's 670UA as the 666 and 667 are currently in the air on domestic flights as I type this. Assuming that's correct, only 5 left to be converted.

I agree, but haven't seen a ferry of a 763 from SFO or HNL. Did 670UA move to HKG without getting onto FlightAware? Can anyone confirm its in HKG or still in SFO?

By the way, did anyone notice that Micronesian 73G N 13720 ferried GUM-HNL-LAX-AMA 9/27 and is now on the way back to GUM via LAX and HNL. Aircraft was in AMA 7+ days. Wondering if this was for paint - the aircraft is (or was) in Star paint. That seems like a lot of ferry mileage for paint of MX work, which you'd think could be done in HKG.

I will be flying from AMS to IAD in a few months on a 763, now I remember from a few years back that UA didn't have any AVOD on the 767's, is this still the case or is it currently being updated?

4289 (N489UA) on the way to GLH for paint. 4290 (N490UA) to exit. The plan is for N670UA to be the next into HKG for conversion. It is due out of GSO on the 7th.

Not soon enough. Just back from ORD>AMS on an PMUA763 in Y and it was aweful. Poor condition, TV was small and yellowed out, poor padding on the seats, etc. It was a long 9:09.

I know that the 11 788's are to replace the 10 762's that are leaving (5 gone already) and one can only hope that the reconfigured 2 class 763's are to replace the old 763's. All UA's projections are for flat or low international growth ( a route to 3 per year) so we should see some of these phase each other out. New 789's due in 2014 should retire the rest of them.

See 763ER Flight 6869/5Oct sked SEA-HKG. Assume this is N670UA heading into Mod, rumored to leave 10/7. Will monitor to see if this ferry is real.

735:
N14604 ferried IAH-HOU Flight 6857/4Oct. Probable fleet exit.
Still waiting for confirmation that N19623, HOU since 9/18 is a fleet exit.

319:
N827UA exited SFO 921/4Oct after 11 days. Assume this is maintenance and not a mod visit. Can anyone confirm this is not WiFi or bins?

772ER:
N206UA shown to exit SFO Flight 317/6Oct. Should be ITPE, but seat map still shows old version. Will monitor.

On the ExpressJet CRJ side, N829AS is now in the new scheme. There are only 14 CRJs assigned to the United Express operation. Word is they are working on an aggressive schedule to get all the planes repainted as soon as the end of the year.

No Global First seats are being taken out at this time (unless the rumors are true that 3 already converted 772 would become the additional HI aircraft.) The 763's will remain 21 3-class and soon to be 14 2-class from domestic config.

If they did take some out, I don't know that the 767 Global First Seats would fit exactly the same in a 777.

I have nothing to go by other than supposition and inference, but combining the apparent surplus of widebody aircraft as discussed on the IAH-LHR thread with UA's guidance for flat capacity, I'd say there's a decent chance some 744s are about to be retired and replaced with 777s.

I believe one of the newer 763ERs in the IPTE configuration will go to the new 2-cabin configuration some time at the end of the mod run. Ultimately there will be 20 IPTE and 15 J/Y 763ERs, with the 2-cabin birds to stay for the long haul. The IPTE ships will be progressively retired starting in a few years, from what I understand.

The 744 utilization rate has been high, and it was always the plan that these would be finished in late 2013. They are being replaced by A350s in 4 years, not by 777s.

The 744 utilization rate has been high, and it was always the plan that these would be finished in late 2013. They are being replaced by A350s in 4 years, not by 777s.

I know what's been publicly stated regarding the A350s replacing 744s. What I am saying, and what others have mentioned in the IAH-LHR thread, is that aircraft are being freed up with the arrival of the 787s, ex-domestic 763s, and other schedule realignments such as the appearance of 757s on IAD-LHR. Given UA's statements that international capacity growth will be essentially flat next year, that would imply either (1) retirement of other aircraft, or (2) much decreased utilization. (I guess the third option would be that UA is lying in SEC disclosure documents.)

Perhaps the 777s that are being displaced by 787s and 767s will allow for the accelerated IPTE conversion of the remaining sUA 777s. We know that it is a goal of UA to offer a lie-flat product in Business First on its international fleet. They might be aiming to have this completed before summer of 2013.

Just a guess...

The IPTE ships will be progressively retired starting in a few years, from what I understand.

Where's the growth then? UA is only taking delivery of 10-12 787s over the next 2 years and retiring 5 762s at the same time. I think someone pointed out the net result of 1 extra widebody with the retirements. Not sure how many 763s are being retired, but I'd hope they wouldn't dump them all that quickly.

Certainly plausible! Out of curiosity, when did the last ex-UA 777 IPTE conversion occur? Is it possible that future conversions could be to 2-class aircraft?

Where's the growth then?

At least as far as current capacity guidance indicates, there won't be much growth at all.
