Doesn't G4 serve lot's of uncontrolled airports?

very interesting.

Looks like allegiant decided to exit fort collins then looked for what they thought was an easy out. Clearly they didnt think thru the scenario enough.

i only hope this can accelerate Frontier into Fort Collins!

Its not like anything changed since they started flying there and i pretty sure Allegiant didnt even complain about any problems to the airport or city so i think its purely looking for what they thought was an "easy out"

I forgot to post there was an article in VegasInc a few days ago with comments about why Fort Collins is being pulled. While the company acknowledged it serves a lot of uncontrolled airports it said is the increase in GA traffic around FNL that has it concerned and that is why it is pulling out. The comments seem to indicate the company thinks a mid air collision there is going to happen when, not if.

That's a bit ridiculous. Commercial air service does safely exist at other airports. BQK (Brunswick, GA) is an uncontrolled field and DL operates daily ATL service from there.

Quoting JBAirwaysFan (Reply 3):

BQK only averages 67 landings/takeoffs per day with 42 aircraft based at the field. FNL averages just under 300 landings/takeoffs per day with 237 aircraft based at the field. FNL is even substantially busier than GJT, RAP, and DSM.

Total traffic numbers don't always tell the whole story. Perhaps it is the traffic and nature of that traffic during the times that Allegiant has to operate that raise the concern? I have no data to back that thought up, just basing it on some of my experiences at various airports. I've never been to Fort Collins so this is just semi-educated conjecture on my part.
