Inaugural 787 Flights

Sun Oct 07, 2012 5:27 pm

So I am wondering what special events have taken place on 787 inaugural flights. I know on the “other new plane” there was even a live music (AirFrance), Thai gave out goodie bags, SQ charity etc. I have not seen too much with the 787.

When NH had their flight to HKG a while back, there was a LOT of fanfare. It had a special route designation, lots of dignitaries were invited, and lots of souvenirs were handed out. Someone told me that the plane carried both the Japanese and Hong Kong Flags.

Rumor floating around was that one of the Japanese Royal Family members was in First Class but I'm not sure about that one

JL's NRT-BOS route had a number of similar happenings, like souvenirs, photos taken, special signs at both terminals, water cannon salutes, etc.

United's inaugural 787 flight is November 4th from IAH-ORD. United is planning to have a big fanfare as many booked the flight just to fly on it (such as myself). However, United was not specific on their plans, but I imagine there will be a water cannon salute, a party before boarding on 11/4, souvenirs and I would love to have a certificate signed by the pilot.
