Continental is flying to Isreal out of EWR; so TWA watch out and be prepared. I hope that TWA will be agressive to keep the mid-east routes. I'm still shocked when TWA pulled out of Milan and Rome. I hope that the Mid east is not affected by Karabu. It will be a dark day in aviation if TWA pulls out of the Mid-eastal together.

The strongest route of TWA in the mid-east is TLV-JFK, while TWA is the smallest airline among those who fly from TLV to North America.

The numbers:
LY 18-20 weekly 742/3/4 flights; 6 weekly 762 flights.
CO 14 weekly 777 flights.
AC 9 weekly 763 flights.
TW 7 weekly 763 flights.

The Middle East is not all that profitable, beyond Israel and possibly Cairo. Second, the security requirements
needed to operate services to the region are prohibitive
and there are plenty of markets elsewhere that need
more air service (including Africa and parts of Europe).

TWA should consider offering a second daily 767-300
service to Tel Aviv, Israel. Perhaps the evening flight
should be complemented with a daylight departure in
the mornings, something LY does.

At Newark, Continental is planning a third daily flight
to Tel Aviv but with the turmoil the region, growth
may be postponed.

JFK-Riyadh

This route has come up for review in the past, and as three new/ almost new 767-300ERs are aquired, I see them having finally the means to start a flight like this. Although I think routes like Santo Domingo from JFK and Punta Cana would go double or triple daily with these aircraft as the flights are always jam-packed full.

Also:

LAX-BOS should be announced soon

The following routes are already available for sail, and have just been loaded:

BOS-Montego Bay, Aruba, Puerto Plata

...SJU-LAX in SAN

Yeah a thrid daily flight to TLV???? Thats monstrous! LY's dominance on the route will clearly be tested. Also, AA was planning on adding a JFK route, any news?

Michael, does LY still stop in STN on its TLV-EWR flight, I was pretty sure that had been dropped. ?

What are the details of the new DL/LY codeshare arangement? Any chance LY will join SkyTeam?

TLV-EWR on LY is now nonstop. No more STN stopovers. The stop over was due to LY operating a 757 on the route. In summer, LY flies a 747-400 and year-round it is a 747-400/300 (the -300 leased from Air Atlantic Iceland) and
or a 767.

LY does'nt operate TLV-EWR via STN anymore.
The stop over at STN wasnt because of technical reasons like you can understand from COEWR post, it was to give tourists from Israel & from the US an option to make a stop and visit London on their way to Israel or the US.
The flights were operated by both 757 & 747.

Today, El Al operates 6-9 nonstop flights a week to EWR, operated mainly by a 744, but also 747/743 & MD11.

As for the details about the DL/LY codeshare and AAoperations to TLV, TWAneedsNOhelp, just try this link:
