I would be more than happy to be the airline that fills this void. I wish I had the pull to grab a 744 and launch this puppy. LHR-KUL spells profit to me. Think about it... long has SIN been the gateway from SEAsia/Australia to UK and vise versa, it is time for KUL, and Malaysia to take back what is rightfully theirs, in a matter of speaking. There are 3 ways from that region to Europe profitably, through BKK, KUL, and SIN.
I know there are more ways but these are the ones that have large amounts of O&D and connecting traffic. Even if, QF takes a stake, which means BA would also have a stake, they would not have the flight. What I mean is they would not have the revenue, and revenue is what keeps the plane flying. Profits can be made on this route and maybe BA was doing something wrong, but it should work.
