MLB World Series - 10/29 Multiple UA DTW-SFO

Tue Oct 30, 2012 2:48 am

I was just checking FlightAware and noticed that there were 3 scheduled "charter" flights today (10/29) from DTW-SFO on United. One B764, one B744, and one B739. I know that the SF Giants probably flew back this morning, due to the to them spending last night partying it up. I assume they took the the B744 back to SFO.

I am wondering if all 3 of these flights were charters for the game or is it by chance that UA was getting these flights out of Hurricane Sandy's path. Was ORD and CLE too crowded because of all of the movement of aircraft from the east coast to inland airports?

The SF Giants took UA1806, the B744, from DTW-SFO.

I also noticed EJA719 that left around 12:48AM EST (this morning) from DTW-SFO. I assume Brian Sabean and/or Larry Baer were on that flight. Back to HQ and work on retaining the players for the 2013 roster!

The Giants actually left on the 764, however they did come back on the 747 today. Notice they did a nice little flight over the Golden Gate.

Go Giants!!

The local press in SF said the Giants had upward of 600 invited guests. Players, families, front office ect..

Interesting thing about the 744 they took back. The aircraft was not in full UA colors. Off blue tail with no logo and under the UNITED title, it said charter. Any info on this aircraft?

It sounds like it was N194UA, which United uses for chatters, and it even has the word CHARTER under UNITED titles.

That would be N194UA.

Any info on this aircraft?

It was leased to Atlas and when UA got it back at the end of 2011,
they just came up with this quick livery rather than a full repaint.
