Royal Brunei New Livery

Looks like Royal Brunei is introducing a new livery. http://www.geekinwhite.com/post/3463...ry-of-royal-brunei-revealed-loving

I can't say I like the new colours.

They are the same (or nearly) colors just executed differently.

Here's another look at the livery: http://www.geekinwhite.com/post/3463...it-is-just-rb-now-all-the-best-for

I quite like the minimalist look - the yellow looks elegant. And RB with the "throne" looks royal indeed, on the tail..

Based on that one picture, I don't like it. I absolutely loved the previous livery and I can't see why they felt it needed to be updated.

But then again, that's just a few pictures of one aircraft type. I'll pass full judgement when I can see more photos. Maybe it looks better on the 777?

The old livery was a steaming pile of you know what imo.

In my opinion, the body is very nice, clean and very 21st century. But the tail is a bit... bland. The RB needs to look more... regal/ royal.

But all in all, it's a much welcome change. I reckon it'll look good on their B787s!

Fingers crossed that they'll do a "Garuda" with their rebranding and overhaul...

What? white fuselage, grey belly, painted tail, titles about one third down the upper fuslage? (the grey things on the fuselage are shadows I suppose)
Wow, I must say very brave and daring - for a designer who has no talent and a management who has no taste and no idea of marketing. An anxious beancounters scheme. Did they hire a fired JAL manager?

If you think a white piece of paper is elegant, then yes. The 787 itself is elegant for sure, but this "livery" is so bland and austere I fear for the mental state of people who like it. So easy to please with the simplest things? Cheap, cheap, cheap, that seems the motto here.

From a design perspective, a huge step down from what was a very distinctive and attractive livery.

Boring and bland, honestly, which is better than outright bad, but not by much. It's another livery that makes it look like these planes were acquired second-hand and not much money can be spent on making them look nice, or that the planes are just on short term lease, and that's why it's so mimimal.

No thanks.

Quite beside the point, are they still getting 787s? I thought they'd cancelled?

why are so many airlines going with "all white" body and color on the tail? They could at least have a color strip on the entire length of the fuselage.

It looks quie fresh and light...... However the concept doesnt sit well with the " royal brunei" image...... Seems like the finnair catastrophe is getting popular... And who knows it might grow into us in the long run. As The ay livery somehow grew into me already.. I however wished that the rba crest was more pronounced as a consolation hehe

The costs of painting are not that big a difference .. more like the fact that every bit of marketing material has to be changed as well, starting from stationery, to website, signage, etc .... that's where rebranding money is burned.

I knew this reminded me of something. It's like the designers thought process was hmmmm... "need to think classy and posh...." and then when to his cornershop to find the most expensive thing in there and copied it.

The fuselage a nice idea, poorly executed, and the tailfin looks like it was put together by grabbing the nearest post-it note, writing the letters R, B drawing a squiggle and slapping it on a pic where the tailfin would be and going in his head... "tadaaa!... now let's go drink."

Hmmm, I don't hate it, although I loved the previous livery (or still current?). What I don't like is that it is hard to distinguish from TR from a distance. It needs a bit more yellow on the fuselage.

Cheers

That's because they won't have any other widebodies.

FYI the previous livery was a modified Boeing livery from 757 & 767 promo days with the blue stripes becoming yellow and the red stripe becoming black.

Coming from perhaps the only country with very close ties to Brunei (Singapore and Brunei still have currency inter-changeability), this doesn't look like what I'd expect from Royal Brunei.

It looks too watered down. They shouldn't try to be chic, they're not Virgin. It should be grand.

And the least they could dow as make the yellow strip at the same angle as the black strip on the Bruneian flag. It looks annoyingly unaligned now.
