Biman Bangladesh Using Blue Panorama 767's?

Sun Nov 04, 2012 4:58 pm

Is Biman Bangladesh in some sort of financial problem or lots of planes out for maintence, why are most of there flights being operated by Blue Panorama 767s? BBC005 today went to LHR on a Blue Panorama plane and I'm just curious why.

Their own aircraft are currently busy flying Hajj pilgrims home from Saudi Arabia.

yes - as flyingalex mentioned, the 77Ws are busy hauling the Hajj pilgrims from JED to DAC. As a result, the usual schedule is messed up, MAN and MXP have been axed, and this Blue Panorama 767 has been leased.

I do not get the management. If anything, they should have leased specifically for the Hajj season, keeping their usual operation with the new planes intact. Everything works quite the opposite in Biman.

EI-CXO is currently with Biman: http://www.ch-aviation.ch/portal/new...ses-b767-300er-to-biman-bangladesh In the meantime it had briefly also been replaced by EI-CZH.

I saw a Blue Panorama plane in DAC on the 29th Oct...I was wondering what it was doing. I guess there are more people heading for Saudi than the UK/Europe, so makes sense to put the 777 on the Saudi routes.

It depends on what loads were like on the European flights. If the B77Ws would have been half-empty anyway on their regular flights, then it makes sense to fly more Hajjis with those, and to wet-lease smaller aircraft for the normal schedule.
