Wizzair Awarded Istanbul,Antalya And Moscow Rights

Tue Nov 06, 2012 11:57 am

Hi all,

According to the printed version of the Budapest Business Journal the Hungarian government has officially given Wizzair the rights to start operations from Budapest to Istanbul, Antalya and Moscow.

They will start ticket sale after receiving the green light from the Russian and Turkish authorities too, which is expected soon.

Good news for Budapest and Wizzair ( and us passengers ) as Wizzair was already awarded the Budapest toTel Aviv and Kiev rights.

Are there any other interesting ex Malev NON EU routes from Budapest to be given away?

I guess the story the Hungarian PM was saying that there is going to be a new Malev very soon are now history.
W6 just changed its luggage rules and added a fee - not so good for passangers. I hope they will not end up like Malev...

Wizzair.

It's a race to the bottom these days when it comes to airline names.

No offense, but must airlines suck away -- or shall we say piss away -- whatever shred of dignity remains in this industry?

Beirut and Amman come to mind.
Public service announcement: "It's" = "it is". To indicate posession, write "its." Looks wrong, but it's correct grammar

ahhhh i see... thanks a lot, didnt know that   forgive my not so deep knowledge in english "slangs"   but you learn something everyday on a.net...

I never thought of this name as "strange", maybe because you don't learn this word at school in Germany where i come from, "wizz" mean more something like "wizz(k) something away" as in quickly, effortlessly or something like that... that's what i had i mind always when seeing the name of this airline...

Yes, but I assume those were only good for transfer pax, not a P2P airline..

Fortunately it doesn't have the same meaning here in the English lanauage, and I assume the same in European languages too.

Wizz isn't a widely used word, but Wizz would be interpreted at "Fast" or "Speed". Like you could say I am going to "Wizz off on an aeroplane " or "Wizz off to Budapest for the weekend".

I think it's more American slang rather than English.
