Status Of OO's CR2s For AA

Wed Nov 07, 2012 10:00 am

There are but eight days remaining before Skywest takes over the MQ 50 seater service out of LAX. Have any of these aircraft been reconfigured or repainted for AA yet - and are there pictures? The seat map looks exactly the same as DL so probably no reconfiguration is required.

I really want to see the jets in their new c/s. Wondering if any LAX/TUS members have seen any yet.

They posted pictures of several of them on our employee site a week or two ago. Unfortunately I can't find them now in the recent post history, but the planes DO exist, haha. They're in full American Eagle color scheme. For what it's worth, they look identical to the existing AE CR7's, just in CR2 form.

AA/AE never operated 50 seaters out of LAX. They were the 140's, aka 44 seaters.

Right, and they still are. Word on the street is they go to opening up some new domestic markets out of MIA and relieving the ATRs on the 15th when those birds finally leave the schedule.

I'm surprised there hasn't been a single public photo of the CR2 considering they're not really trying to keep it under wraps. Its just seven days away! I can't imagine they have enough lift. I wonder how many of the company-painted OO CR2s will be opp'ing the service on day one.

Thanks for the picture!

But wait... Aren't Eagles supposed to be, you know, sleek?

At least it looks sleeker than a Saab or an ATR! LOL!

Is this the first time a plane is painted with American Eagle titles but operated by a company other than AMR, for AMR?

Before AA consolidated their regionals, they all had Eagle branding, so no.

Considering the frequency with which they'll run on time.... they'll be pretty sleek alright

But this is a non-AMR owned company flying the American Eagle (as opposed to American Connection) banner. So my point isn't directed at AA, rather the corporate parent, AMR.

It's all right here...

Basically, all of the regionals that became Eagle as we know it now, were independant until either purchased by, or merged into Eagle carrier (except for Nashville Eagle.)

Every company flying as American Eagle with be non-AMR in the near future. Eagle is in the process of picking a new company name as we speak, in preparation for the spin-off.

Basically, AAL is now just like every other airline in that they sell their image to the lowest bidder(s) rather than keep things in house.

Yep, knew that was coming, but good to restate it here in case others reading didn't.

Yeah, I knew about the separate regionals that AMR purchased to merge into present day Eagle, just wasn't sure if prior to that AMR had used non-owned airlines under the Eagle banner.

I believe all 50 seat CRJ's are configured the same. 12 rows of 4 seats and the last row is 2 seats on the left side. Looking at the photos in the DB of OO CRJ interiors, I don't see anything that is airline specific i.e. DL or UA logos. Unless AA requested any changes to the interior, they should be fine as it is.

All of the SkyWest aircraft have SkyWest branding inside. It makes it easier, should they be needed elsewhere. A good example was the whole UA -> YX -> FL -> UA -> US/AA route that some aircraft have taken.

As an example otherwise, Mesa DID have mainline branded interiors, so you'd see US interiors on UA flights, etc., despite the paint outside.

They have no interior branding, but the only ones that can be used across all networks are the generic painted ones. The others cannot be moved around from one major partner to another.

I wouldn't be so sure about that....

That big honkin' "SkyWest emblem at the back of the aisles (200) /lav door (700/900) certainly are branding. Sure, there may be UAX or DAL, or even SKW head cloths, but those are quick-change items. A bulkhead is not.
