Wed Nov 14, 2012 5:49 am

Hey folks. I came across this article. Is AB spinning his usual spin or is he serious? One never knows.

They will launch the 787-10 soon and QR is but one of several possible launch customers. I'm not sure if Boeing wants to deal with QR as the launch customer despite the fact the program will more than far enough along in sorting out the production issues from the -8 and -9 versions that there should be few delays.

I never would have thought that the same airline would launch two competing airplane models at the same time. As the A350 launch customer, being the 787-10 launch customer would lead QR to being heavily involved in two competing designs.
If you have never designed an airplane part before, let the real designers do the work!

As they've converted their A350-800 order to the A350-900, it sounds like they're comfortable with the 787-8 as their A330-200 replacement / thin-route backbone.

They do have 30 787 options on hand, so converting those to the 787-10 would, in conjunction with their large A350-900 fleet, give QR a pretty compelling ~300-seat twin fleet able to handle just about any mission.
