Virgin America To OKC?

Mon Nov 19, 2012 7:35 am

Just a quick note:

One of my friends is an event planner in Oklahoma City. I was just creeping his FB page, and it turns out there is this photo:

Says, "Was a pleasure planning the event for Mr. Branson and his team."

The photo was taken in OKC. Is Virgin America planning services here, or shopping the city?!

Somewhere between "when pigs fly" and "cold day in hell."

There's about 30 other cities that VX will open before OKC...and they'll quite possibly be bankrupt long before that.

How do you know the photo was taken in OKC? Did it say so on the picture caption?

Edit: If I had just read the caption in the photo, it was taken at the W in Dallas. The event planner is from OKC, but the photo was an older photo that was posted last night.

Mods, delete if you wish. Sorry guys.

I agree with AWACSooner- I don't think OKC has the O&D to support flights to SFO or LAX ( at least not on aircraft the size of 319s or 320s) so they would have to fill it with connecting pax. Since many of VX's destinations from those cities are on the east coast, pax wanting to go from OKC to, say, JFK would have to backtrack 1800 miles. VX COULD lure pax onto such an itinerary....but they would probably have to lower fares to an uneconomical level.

UA flies OKCSFO; both AA and UA fly OKCLAX.

United 1-2 daily CR7's and we send it out with 30 passengers sometimes. Granted this is a newer developing route, it has massive feed here into SFO. VX wouldn't stand a chance operating this route. It also doesn't fit their model of clientele.
