Where Will The G8 Leaders Fly Into Next Year?

Tue Nov 20, 2012 2:37 pm

With the G8 being held at Lough Erne next year (2013), my assumption is that all of the G8 leaders will fly direct into EGAA (BFS), and head to Fermanagh by helicopter? Or do heads of state need to fly into London first?

I also assume Enniskillen Airport which is on the shore of Lough Erne is too small to handle any of the metal that would be coming in. As Putin would be coming in on his IL96 and Obama in his 747..

Probably BFS Aldergrove given runway, extensive handling & existing security facilities.
They could try and tie it with nearest LDY given the Derry City of culture 2013 tourism initiative.

LDY 1970m - 101 KM
NOC 2345m - 113 KM
BFS 2780m - 132 KM
