FAA: Examiner DQ'd. Pilots Must Re-test.

Tue Nov 20, 2012 6:26 pm

Sad story from the Las Vegas area. Turns out an FAA Pilot Examiner was not qualified (story doesn't state reason) to administer pilot checks. FAA has asked applicants to re-test. Seems ridiculously unfair and at what expense to the applicant?

That happened here in ATL not too long ago as well. It really sucks when you bust your ass to pass a ride and then a ways down the road you are told that it wasn't good enough.
Nice Trip Report!!! Great Pics, thanks for posting!!!! B747Forever

Don't know about this case but I do know on the A@P side it has happened several times too because the DME was taking a payoff for the oral/practical and not actually performing them.

Could be as simple as having an expired medical.

Agree it is not fair but what else do you think should happen?

They should be given more time to prepare for the retakes (though not permitted to fly until then) and should be excused from having to pay for the examiner's time since it was due to circumstances beyond their control.

Agree, but none of that is in the OP. OP stated they had to retest and that was unfair. Then questioned who would pay. Something I have not seen the answer to.
