Ha! Yeah that cracked me up. I'd like to know though... sounds fun

That last quote is a grammatical nightmare.

What flight is it operating tomorrow? It'll be sad to see it go, I often fly 757 with ET and DL and I must say I prefer them to the 737 they are being replaced by! No comparison

A rotation to BCN will be the last two flights.

Leitraot Sheva Hamech Sheva.
(it means good bye Seven Five Seven in Hebrew)

Are the 767s still flying? If so, they must be even older. El Al was one of the first three non US airlines to order the 767 back in the 80s, the other two being Air Canada and Britannia.

It's an old expression.

Anyone know where these birds might end up? AFAIK, they never got wingletted, so that should help their cargo resale potential, I would think...

There were reports a long time ago that they would go to FedEx as freighters. I am trying to reconfirm that as we speak (or should I say write).

Unless my math is wrong, it's only 25 years of service.

200 pax, shortish runways, flights from 1-7h; yes, the 757 is your aircraft.

It still amazes me that there is still - a good few years after the 757's production ended - no aircraft that has the same versatility as the 757; sure, quite a few aircraft - the 739ER and A321 - can do some of its missions, but none can do it all.

It was and is a great aircraft!

Yes, LY has still many 767s in its fleet:
- 2 762s (built in 1990): owned by LY
- 6 763s (built between 1991 and 2000): none has winglets and all are leased.

What is next for the LY 757's ? Do they have the reinforced floors like the 747's do?

If they do, would it be an advantage if they are converted for FX?

It might be an advantage but its probably cancelled out by the heavier weight of the reinforcements.

I have checked again and it seems like they will both be parted out.

Wonder if they have fewer hours than other 757s of similar age since they only flew 6 days a week?

Indeed a sad day for such a workhorse of an aircraft for EL AL.

BTW, how much demand is there for used 757s? W/ or w/o winglets. I see that most late builds seem to be with US legacies so not going anywhere anytime soon.

I have just learnt that this add was not made by El Al, but by a fan, which explains some mistakes...
