Update On Japanese A320 Operator "Peach"?

Mon Nov 26, 2012 5:31 pm

Easrlier in the year, I was watching the development of LCC competition in Japan with interest. Peach Aviation (dba "Peach") was planning to introduce a "clean" LCC product as a JV of ANA. Since the first flight in March, mums the word.

Anyone have any news on Peach?

I will travelling Peach in the coming weekend betweem Hong Kong and Osaka!!!

Recently, they have moved their operation to Terminal 2 (new dedicated LCC terminal) in Osaka.

they seems to be doing fine at the moment, however things may change with Air Asia Japan going international in the near future.

Hong Kong is not China. Not better or worse, just different.

Buddy of mine is training to fly with Peach beginning next year in March. Says the airline is doing quite well. Seems like LCCs in Japan are doing quite well.

Excuse the self plug here but if you are interested, take a look at my trip report from earlier this year. Not so much in the way of news but might be of some interest.

I don't think the new terminal is an LCC terminal. I think that it is solely for the use of Peach (though I could be wrong!). KIX has announced their plan to build another new terminal which will a dedicated LCC terminal for all other LCCs.

Good stuff! Girl I know will start training to be an FA on Peach in January next year.

Well Peach and AirAsia Japan don't compete, yet.
AirAsia Japan already is flying int'l: NRT-ICN.

Jetstar Japan has had a variety of issues.
AirAsia Japan's growth is very slow. I'd thought they would be flying five or six aircraft by now.

Anna Aero have been covering this market quite extensively. A report on 24 Oct 12: http://www.anna.aero/2012/10/24/peac...6pc-of-japanese-domestic-capacity/
Says that LCCs are approaching 4% of domestic capacity and the "Jetstar Japan currently leads the way among the newcomers with 1.7% of the market, followed by Peach (1.2%) and AirAsia Japan (0.7%)."
There is a table showing the Nov 12 breakdown for 13 domestic airlines, ANA still has just over 50% of the market.
