Emirates 77Ws: Which Are Two Class?

Wed Nov 28, 2012 8:17 pm

I was just wondering how many of the recently delivered Emirates 777s (i.e. the 'EGx series) were configured in a two class layout; there seems to be quite a small number of routes which have two class aircraft - those to India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Indonesia and also, to Birmingham and one or two other European cities. I wonder if the number of these aircraft has increased. All of the standard 773s (i.e. the RR powered acft) seem to be in three class layouts, so all of the two class 773 flights must be operated by 77Ws.

Airliner World produced a full list of the airline's fleet with configs, but that was well over a year ago, since when many more have been delivered.

Quoting kaitak (Thread starter):

I don't think any EGx series 77Ws are in 2 class layout.

You'll find info about configs (and which planes have which configs) here: http://www.theeksource.com/seatmaps.html

According to that website, there are 13 2-class 77Ws.
It's all about the destination AND the journey.

Thanks for that, NZ107; should have thought of that myself!

I see there are none of the 'EGx series in the two class layout, as you say, but 'ENA and 'ENB - the two newest - are.

There are at least two differing Two Class version used.

428 and 440 seats

The 440 seaters were used on the evening Manchester route (Not now through as thats a three class route) and sub continent routes and include

A6-EBV A6-EBX A6-EBZ A6-ECB

The 428 seaters are

A6-EBA A6-EBD A6-EBF A6-EBH A6-EBL A6-EBP A6-EBS A6-EBT A6-ECY A6-ECZ

This may not be exhaustive but these certainly the 2 class models I know of plus those two new deliveries you refer to

Although I think they interchange the 3-class and 2-class 77Ws pretty liberally, even for destinations where only two classes of service are offered. For example a number of the flights to Pakistan, which are all sold as two-class, frequently see 3 class 77Ws or the 773s.

In such cases, do they keep the F class cabin empty or do they use F class seats to seat J class passengers?

F seats are also bundled as J in such cases and your higher yielding J pax and gold members are seated there.

There are 16 2 class 777-300ERs in the EK fleet. All the 2 class planes are the ER model.

(There are 2 class 777-200s and 2 class 332s as well.)

These are the registrations of the 2 class airplanes:

A6-EBA, A6-EBD, A6-EBF, A6-EBH, A6-EBL, A6-EBP, A6-EBS, A6-EBT, A6-EBV, A6-EBX, A6-EBZ, A6-ECB, A6-ECY, A6-ECZ, A6-ENA, A6-ENB

There are no 2 class planes in the A6-EGx series, but some are in the newest A6-ENx series.

The difference between the 2 seating configs is the business class. The airplanes with more economy seats have the old style business class (recliner chairs) and the airplanes with less economy seats have the newer business class (lie flats). The reg of the older business class airplanes are:

A6-EBV and A6-ECB

It's all on planespotters.net under Emirates and fleet. Also there are three two class B772s not two, (A6-EMD/E/F)

Seems to be a mixture of 2 and 3 class 77Ws into Newcastle at the moment, along with the occasional 777-200LR.
When you hear the noise of the Tartan Army Boys, we'll be coming down the road!

If load factor demands it, then the F cabin is used for full fare passengers or Skywards elite members. Still Biz service though.
