Thu Dec 06, 2012 3:25 am

What measures could have been done to avoid the TWA flight 800 explosion shortly after take off
in the summer of 1995 ? Was exposed wiring near the center fuel tank over looked?

Not everybody believes in the center fuel tank explanation. I'm not saying it was a missle, but I have some questions that haven't been answered yet.

I am open to the missle idea too. I believe officially it was a redisgn of those fuel pumps and insulation for the pump wires.

As a side question:
Do you suppose TWA would have survived if 800 had never happened?

The area of the explosion in the aircraft was very similar to the location the shoe bomber tried, and the area that was attempted on the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philippine_Airlines_Flight_434 attack. This is a known location on an aircraft where a bomb will cause the center tank to rupture and take the aircraft down.

When TWA800 went down, the Clinton administration took precautions at airports as if it was a terrorist attack. They closed near airport parking, banned curbside check-in, etc. A big overreaction? Or was it in response to "known knowns" that the administration didn't want to admit, what with an election looming the following year and a recent rebuffing of his policies during the 1994 mid-term elections.

yes, we know, Bill Clinton ordered the plane be shot down. Some ship fired a "missle" and this was witnessed by all these people on the beach, and the entire US Navy covered it up. And of course this was done because Bill was diddling someone in addition to Monica and he wanted to put the public's attention on something elese.

Of course, ACORN stole both the 2008 Election from McCain, and the 2012 election for Romney.

Obama is a Muslim, or a Communist, or a Nazi, or a Peacenik, or all four, and he was born in Kenya and his long form birth certificate is a forgery.

This is all true because Obama is going to repeal the 2nd Amendment all on his own and then take your guns away.

It's all true. Look it up on the Internet. I flagged your post.

The word is MISSILE, not missle. Hopefully, with this reply, they will delete the entire thread.

Oh yes, the St. Louis hub was a money printing machine. TWA was the premier airline just as it was in the 1950's. Those previous bankruptcies were just done to refinance their debt.

TW 800 was as much a factor in the bust of TWA as Pan Am 103 led to their demise. VERY LITTLE. Neither incident helped but both airlines were doomed by years of bad management decisions.

Yes, it was very close to the Shoe Bomber incident and the Philippine Airlines incident. You forgot the purposeful crash of the Egypt Air 767 which flew into the ocean as the pilot yelled Allah hu Akbar, God is Great in Arabic.

This is also known as the Long Island Triangle. You also didn't mention the crashes of the two Eastern DC-7B's, Flight 512 on 11/30/1962, and Flight 663 on February 8, 1965 which also crashed nearby, as well as an Avianca 707-300B.

Slick Willie of course knew the cause of TW 800 before it happened, so therefore, he must have ordered those precautions because he not only knew it was a terrorist attack, he was the perpetrator.

And if you believe any of this, we should re-open Pilgrim State Hospital, also located in the Montauk Triangle, just for you. Of course, the Bernie Madoff scandal was caused by this phenomenon too, as he and Ruth had a huge house located in the vicinity.

I should publish this in the Onion.
