Easyjet To Start Southend- Newquay

Mon Dec 10, 2012 4:36 pm

Just read in Southend Echo that Easyjet will begin domestic services from Southend to Newquay next summer.
The flights are supposedly going to be about an hour in duration.

This is in addition to an announcement that Krakow and Berlin will also be started next summer.

More information here http://www.echo-news.co.uk/news/10091770.Fly_to_Newquay_from_Southend/

It's great news and good to see that the airline is expanding services from the airport.
Anyone hazard a guess on their next destination?

I think this is a unique service and worthy of it's own thread.

This strikes me as an odd route. On either end the main potential markets will have to backtrack on the ground. There isn't too much population east of Southend or west of Newquay.

Well I think easyJet may try and give Flybe some competition on the NQY route. For example rather than starting at Gatwick they might loose pax to Flybe, so starting at SEN I think that it may let easyJet build up a new customer base around there. Plus also with easyJet it gives a chance for a new route at the 2 most newest bases (SEN and NQY).
