I'm sitting here listened to the radio scanner and the winds tonight at DFW
are remarkable. Anywhere between 270 and 280 degrees, with gusts to 44kt. The only runways in use are the 31s - I don't think I've ever seen this before. I've also heard recent microburst alerts advising of a 45-knot loss on a 1-mile final.
Traffic is backed up on the Alpha bridge in a giant conga line for departure on 31L. Tower seems to be doing an excellent job getting these planes in and out in such a strange and stressful situation.
METARS are crazy, with reports of blowing dust and reduced visibility...
