I knew that the (2) slots for SAN
were gained by US through the surrender of (2) DFW
slots but I didn't realize that the carrier op'd only a single r/t in the DC-to-Texas market. Interesting. It seemed to me at the time that it must have been a poorly performing route since US could have instead surrendered the 2 slots in any number of other multi-flight hub-markets that they serve from National Airport. (Such as AA
did, choosing to drop a r/t each in their DCA
, and DCA
But then, US played that whole DC-Beyond-Perimeter case rather strangely (in many peoples' opinions) so what's one more question mark?
