Boeing said that they delivered 31 747 aircraft in 2012. Can we assume that RC522 has been delivered?

I am moving to Tokyo in March, and will be following the KZ deliveries closely. I would like more information for the following:

Quoting 747classic (Reply 1):
L/N 1479 - 747-8KZF, RC525, serial number 36139, NCA #5, registration JA15KZ

This one is in the firing order; when should I expect this to be delivered?

Quoting 747classic (Reply 1):
L/N 1422 - 747-8KZF, RC522,
Quoting 747classic (Reply 1):
Acceptance date : December 16 or 18-2012 ?, Delivery flight date : TBD.

So this one was accepted but not delivered? Anything going on with this?

Quoting 747classic (Reply 1):
L/N 1469 - 747-8KZF, RC524, serial number 37394, NCA#4, registration JA14KZ, unpainted with NCA livery rudders, Roll-out November 26-2012, KPAE flight line. Is scheduled in February 2013 to be send to Marana AZ (storage ?).

Same with this....it's being sent to MZJ but when should this one be delivered?

Thanks

I answered my own question: the Boeing delivery list now shows 2 deliveries in 2012 for Nippon Cargo Airlines.

Handed over, but the airplane has not flown away yet. As of this moment, she sits on the south end of the KPAE flight line, between LN 1420 (for CLX) and LN 1463 (for AirBridge Cargo). Those two airplanes should deliver in a month or so, but a fly-away date for RC522 is TBA.

She should get her ticket in late February, and then fly-away shortly thereafter.

Boeing does have two 747-8F UFOs from 27-Nov-2012, so I am guessing that is an unannounced SV order for two of the NTU's from Atlas Air?

Provisional 747-8 Aircraft Production List (01 January- 2013)

It was my understanding that Atlas Air refused the first four planes, but in this list I can account for only three of them. Am I mistaken, or if not, what happened to the fourth? At this point it looks like only RC573 is looking for employment. And was there that much difference between RC573 and RC574? They did take RC574.

But did Boeing institute a change between RC573 and RC574 that made it worthwhile to take RC574 but not the previous three? There is only a difference of 4 in the line numbers; at which points did Boeing institute changes, and how significant were they?

Boeing uses Kona fairly often. It's got a big runway, extremely low traffic, ground facilities capable of handling a 747, and a good working relationship. I don't know why they're going out into the Pacific but, if they do, Boeing almost always goes to Kona.

It's a 6 hour flight, way longer than the usual test flight. I have no idea what Boeing is doing there.

In other news, RC572 is getting its engines attached:

January is now behind us and it was a quiet month with no deliveries. Here is an overview of the flight activity last month.

- RC501: made about 10 test flights since finishing refurbishment, delivery was previously reported for January but that did not happen.

- RC604: made also about 10 test flights since November, I have however no idea what's going on with this one. There is a nice picture of this bird at http://www.flickr.com/photos/sabian404/8434892788/

- RC571: finally made its first flight on January 31. It will fly to Portland for painting on Friday. Matt Cawby has a nice overview of the bird's history http://kpae.blogspot.nl/2013/01/paine-field-january-31.html

- RC524: still unpainted and made a long test flight towards KOA. Probably still scheduled for storage at Marana AZ?

- RC026: the next delivery for Lufthansa, made several test flights. The last flight on January 31 looks like a customer flight but I'm not sure about this.

Volga Dnepr lost $38 million last year and is in talk with Boeing to delay the delivery of RC604 and RC605. They are also not that happy with the 748F range:

"Last year Tatyana Arslanova, executive president of ABC, admitted that the 747-8Fs weren’t suitable for the airline’s trans-polar flights as they didn’t have the payload or range. He also said the company was struggling with overcapacity and that he was in discussions with Boeing to postpone the delivery of two 747-8 freighters."

"Rumours from Seattle, however, suggest that one recently delivered aircraft has been parked in the desert and a second is to follow shortly. The aircraft are expected to join the fleet once two of Air Cargo Germany’s freighters are returned to the lessor later this year."

The 747-8 program passed the 100.000 flight hours mark at Jan 27-2013.
The 747-8 fleet is currently made up of 32 airplanes (28 Freighters and 4 Intercontinentals).

So I have a real novice question so please don't jump all over me if it is obvious to you pros: What is the point of storing a brand new plane that is more efficient than others in your fleet? Why wouldn't ABC and NCA store an older 747-400F of theirs and use the 747-8F? Thanks.

Sounds odd indeed but it probably has to do with payment on delivery and overcapacity. They want to save the money for some time.

Boeing flew the freighter that has been waiting at Everett (37669) to storage at Marana in the Arizona desert -- it appears that Volga-Dnepr has successfully negotiated a deferral of delivery.

As already mentioned in the latest provisional fleet listing (Feb. 1) serial number 37669 was re -registered as N769BA at Jan. 22 , with owner Boeing, so ABC (Volga Dnepr) can delay (part of) the payment.

The same will happen to NCA's RC524, the airline has already re-scheduled the introduction of this aircraft in an earlier stage, see "Phoenix rising "business plan : http://www.nca.aero/e/profile/plan/documents/PRP_E.pdf and will also delay the payment.
This aircraft is also re-registered at Jan 22 :

Operating a twin over the ocean, you're always one engine failure from a total emergency.

RC571 flight to Portland (for painting) popped up on Flightaware. Can't wait to see the Saudi Arabian livery on this one.

Looks like Atlas RC581 (1471) finally got off on its B-1 today but didn't make it to KMWH as originally planned.

Quoting KarelXWB (Reply 48):

That's what I had thought and I had seen other pictures but they either are on another topic or were removed. Plus FlightAware had no flight plan listed after the first one was removed for either KPAE or KMWH which seemed a bit odd. I'm guessing it just did an up and down either due to an issue (which would have generated a flight plan) or if it was too late in the afternoon to get the full profile in a VFR once around the pattern flight (which wouldn't have generated a flight plan) so that adverse wx wouldn't affect a flight on a subsequent day. Matt, any comments??

I'll call it a B-1 profile on a B-2 today or if it did fly a full profile on the 2nd a C-1.
