DL B764 Flies To Boeing Paine Field.

Wed Jan 09, 2013 8:45 am

DL B764 ship #1821 (N845MH) flew from SEA-PAE two days ago as DL #9936. Anyone know why it went there?

Maintenance at Goodrich?

It flew right over my house - too bad that was after dark!

Several DL 764's have done this over the past few months. Probably scheduled maintenance.

I've noticed this, too. I think a few weeks ago I had to do a double take when I saw one departing. If it's any consolation I also see Southwest and Alaska fly in, presumably for maintenance as well.

Is there a certain type of maintenance that can only be done at PAE? DL for one has quite extensive maintenance facilities/capabilities. They even do maintenance for other carriers. Just wondering about that.

Maybe they use Boeing for overflow when there facilities are filled up.
Lighten up while you still can, don't even try to understand, just find a place to make your stand and take it easy

An interesting statement considering DL's large TechOps facility. Among the legacies, it has chosen to do more of its maintenance work when compared with others.

I'm sure there's more than enough work for everyone to do without having to worry about whether DL's outsourcing or not.

If you're not busy, Deltal1011man, I'm sure there's something you could be working on.

Boeing Paine field?

I would agree that the title seems a little confused however; I'll give the OP the benefit of doubt and go with something like DL flies to Boeing Factory, Paine Field as the intended meaning!!

The MRO at PAE is not part of Boeing.

Aviation Technical Services does work on 737, 757, 767 and MD-80 products pretty regularly (they are also able to work on 747, 777, DC-10, L-1011, and A319/A320, but these are rarely seen at PAE). They have worked for a variety of airlines but AS, WN, 5X, and DL are the most regular visitors, though even North American and Hawaiian are not uncommon.

I knew i should have left the second sentence i typed in my post. But i thought it was obvious Boeing doesnt own it as they dont own any airport including Boeing Field or Renton Municipal.

However Boeing does own the facilities they use at the airport so it is correct to use with facilities being implied as I and others thought based on the discussion. However, it has been said above that it did not go to Boeing itself, but another contractor based on field.

Maybe Delta and the others are trying to get their stuff fixed before all the 787's show back up and clog, or hog all the ramp parking at Paine Field!!!

Oh, we all know its coming!!!!

Boeing does own an airport near Glasgow, Montana that is used for flight testing.

Back on topic, Detla, as well as other airlines and private operators, sends planes to Aviation Technical Services (formerly Goodrich) in Everett for major maintenance. Lockheed's Catbird test airplane arrived at ATS last week.

There is a lot more at Paine Filed than just Boeing.

An even more interesting statement from someone I'm fairly sure has no idea what they are talking about.

Oh and even after the BK contract AA will still be doing more work in house than Delta. (When including TAESL)

Hmm, http://www.gcr1.com/5010web/airport.cfm?Site=GGW says it's publicly owned.

And if simpilots459 link doesn't convince you that it is the airport, and not just a facility located at the airport, straight from the FAA:
