Rumours: A380 To DUS

Thu Jan 10, 2013 12:26 pm

There are talkings, that EK like to fly with their A380´s to DUS.
According to the following article, EK could start the service in about two years, when "Flugsteig C" would be ready for the super jumbo.

That would be good news for DUS for sure. And on the day it arrives the visitor terrace is overcrowded.

Would it be possible to get it faster to DUS or is the 2 years the earliest possible?

I think it would be the earliest possible date. With the enhancement of their Gates or one of them, the introducing of A380-capable catering trucks, pushbackers, etc. and, first of all, with the proceedings between DUS and EK, it would take at least two years. The article says, that the completion of the DUS A380-modifications can be expected in late 2014 or early 2015.

Interesting.
I have been wondering what was taking them so long in the first place.
As soon as DUS is able to accomodate the A380 it will come. If for no other reason than to weaken AB/EY on their AUH route. If that cooperation/AB will even last that long.
Where have all the tri-jets gone...
