I think you're right in maybe seeing SAN-KOA or ANC-LIH....those are about the only missing pieces from cities they're already serving Hawaii from.
Well, except for SMF
. (And a couple of Outer Islands from BLI
which may or may not be viable.)
|Quoting BoeingGuy (Reply 9):|
How does SMF-OGG do? AS has kept it so far, unlike SMF-GDL that was gone in a heartbeat. So I assume that at least that one route does well enough for AS to keep it.
Don't forget that during the summer of 2012, AS
added an extra Maui flight that was split between SAN
, giving both cities about 1 1/2 flights per day (10-11 weekly r/ts) from June to early November. The plane (I assume) was then moved up to the northwest to increase the winter service to the Islands out of SEA
. That tells me that the SMF
market is pretty healthy for AS
; of course there is no competition on that route from HA
does fly daily to HNL
, my guess is that AS
does not see the market large enough for them to jump in as well; same goes for LIH and KOA but who knows. The other part of the equation is the cost of op'ing at SMF
which might be a major consideration for AS
as it appears to be for other cx serving the state's capital.
