DL 332s On Scheduled Domestic Runs In March

Thu Jan 17, 2013 2:37 am

Pleasant surprise as I was looking through DL's e-timetable for early March (which looks like it has recently been firmed up)...

332s showing on the following routes:
ATL-SEA
ATL-SFO
ATL-LAX (only Wed/Sat)
MSP-LAX

I can see these in the schedule for the first few weeks of March (with ATL-SEA and ATL-LAX continuing longer).

Cool stuff!

Additionally, 763s/767s are showing on the following routes:
ATL-SEA
ATL-SFO
ATL-LAX
ATL-SAN
ATL-LAS
ATL-SLC
ATL-DTW
ATL-JFK
MSP-SEA
MSP-LAX
DTW-SEA
DTW-SFO
DTW-LAX
DTW-LAS

And of course the 77L on ATL-LAX.

I love the variety of domestic widebody service still offered by DL, even though there are no high-frequency runs on ATL-Florida anymore.
This is my signature until I think of a better one.

Yes these are a far cry from the good ol days. We used to have wide bodies from SLC to SEA, LAX, SFO, PHX, JFK, ATL, DFW, HNL, OGG, PDX, etc. miss those days.

While an internationally-configured widebody on domestic service is nice, it is also a bad thing for those of us who would like to have WiFi/Gogo on the flight. Most of these are long enough hauls that there are lots of people (including me) who would use the service, and when I see a internationally-configured widebody on domestic service I specifically book away because of the lack of WiFi.

Yeah, it is great that DL uses their long haul birds on domestic flights also.

I am booked on the 77L (LAX-ATL) and the A332 (MSP-LAX) next month.

That is why everyone has different tastes. Personally, I would go TOTALLY out of the way to book an internationally configured wide-body in C Class, just for the space alone, compared to horrible domestic F Class, that we get on the U.S. People have lived w/out the Internet for millions of years. Can't we survive w/out it for a 2-5 hours?

Don't forget that the SLC-ANC schedule would occasionally include a 767-300, usually during the 11am bank.

I'm booked on the 763 on LAX-MSP this Saturday, albeit it looks to be one of the domestic configured ones (76Q in Delta's parlance, I believe). Although in Y that might be a plus -- these planes have AVOD and live TV in Y, correct?

Back in February 2011, DL operated at least one ATL-LAX roundtrip with the A330-200. I was lucky enough to ride one back then, and return on the 777LR. Since then, the A330-200 has been a rarity on domestic routes, as far as I know, but now they have appeared on several runs - not just LAX-ATL. I'd suggest that all you anutters take advantage of it while you can.

Back in 2/2011 the ATL cabin crews were just getting famliar with the -200 and referred to it as the 'A332' during announcements.

While we're on this subject, do the A330-200s still have the NW-style world business class, or are they converted?

What a change from the days when DL flew L-1011s and 767-300s between Boston and Montreal and no one even blinked.

I did this a few years back on UA, flying ORD-OAK, instead of non-stop I took a UA 777 ORD-DEN inbound from Amsterdam, ended up being the Star Alliance Livery, had upgrades, so I go J, which was full with upgrades, the flew DEN-OAK on my one and only 735 in F to boot, which was far worse than the J experience on my previous flight.

I also took a trip from IAD to PDX, made it via ORD on a Tuesday to take advantage of the domestic leg, of UA's one day a week ORD-PDX-NRT flight on a 742. The rest of the week, the flight operated 6 x weekly via SEA.

HNL-OGG on L10's and PDX-SEA on L10's, 757's, 767's

Flew the late SLC-PDX flight for some time, weekly, it was a business elite configured 763, and always open for an upgrade. Flight was just long enough to get a decent buzz, service was always awesome, with few up front.

Also rode my first 767-400 SLC-SFO-HNL on the closing day of the winter Olympics at Salt Lake City.

Also back in the day, PDX had L15's & M11's to both ATL & CVG, as tags to International flights.

Fortunately, wifi installs on the international fleet are beginning now. Granted, it's early in the process, but at least it's starting

The 330 fleet currently still has the WBC recliners, but modifications begin this year to install the same new business seat that's in the 744.

Yes. I took a ATL-MIA-FLL one many many years ago when they had it and most everyone got off in MIA and nobody got on in MIA. It got to FLL around 01:30.

I can remember when they flew L-1011s, LAX-SFO as tags..........a non-rev special as they couldn't carry locally boarding pax from LAX-SFO.

Don't forget SLC-CVG   I did SLC-CVG many times on the 767-200 and 767-300. When I was going to school in DAB, I'd always fly BIL-SLC-ATL-DAB and would always work my schedule so that the SLC-ATL leg was a 767-400, regardless of what kind of long layovers it created!

Can't remember the flight number, but that was probably the 10 am departure (or maybe noon). I believe the a/c came in from HNL and made it up.

DL 1104 arrives from HNL at 7:30a and out to ATL at 8:30 as 1524 same ship.

I have taken that flight before in reverse - the ATL-SLC is 1105 departing 8:45 continuing to HNL at 11:30 same number.

It was a 764 up until the merger closed and then it became a 763---someone else can probably spout out the actual timeframe..

Well, I'm trying to remember back to '05 and beyond, so I imagine things have changed a little since then. The time frame probably hasn't changed alot and you're probably correct on that. Of course, flight numbers change all the time.

Flight 210 and 211.

Flight 1610 was an ATL-BOS afternoon 767-300 that continued on to YUL. There were also 757s going BOS-PWM. Don't have flight #s on those though. This was the early 90s (90-93ish)
