BA Livery News Part 3

Part 2 at

BA Livery News (Part Two) Any Updates? (by bluesky73 Oct 14 2012 in Civil Aviation)

has now been archived.

772 G-VIIJ was the first (?) 772 to operate in the Union Flag Crest livery when it operated LHR-DXB (BA108) today, Tuesday 22 January. It had entered the BA Paint Shop at LHR after arriving back from JFK (BA172) on 12 Jaqnuary.

Thanks. I think you may be right. 'IM was out of service at LHR from 3 to 14 January and it is certainly possible that 'IJ replaced it in BA's Paint Shop.

I count thirty-seven. That's nineteen 319s, seven 321s, six 320s, two 744s, two 772s and a 763.

Also saw that IJ has the crest now, didn't know IM was first with crest.

I know due to repaint of BMI aircraft the short haul will obviously have a higher ratio of crests applied but still surprised the low numbers of long haul fleet so far. If i remember correctly aircraft have been in for repaint since crest was first revealed yet didn't have crest applied, think it was 772 or 763?

I like the crest and if as VV701 says the count is now at 37 this will put the "is BA getting a new livery?" To sleep.
The BA livery still looks fresh although would be interested to see what a dark blue belly like OS or US (belly paint finishing short of front of fuselage) would look like.

I also noticed a B737, think it was G-DOCO in AGP the other day with the crest!

AFAIK there's currently 42 aircraft repainted with the To Fly, To Serve logo:

A319: G-DBCA/C/E/F/G/H/I/J/K, G-EUOD, G-EUPB/C/E/F/J/K/M = 17
A320: G-EUUA/C, G-MEDK, G-MIDO/S/T/X/Y = 8
A321: G-MEDF/G/J/L/M/N/U = 7
B734: G-DOCA/E/O/Y, G-GBTA = 5
B744: G-BNLU/Z = 2
B763: G-BNWA = 1
B772: G-VIIJ/M = 2

There could of course be updates/corrections to the above!

Add G-EUOE / F to the list of A319s

Are we sure on G-EUUC? jetphotos.net has old colours into this month.

Also I have G-DOCB rather than G-DOCA as being re-painted.

Also the Doves have crests too  Smile

You can add G-EUPX to the list. As I was driving past the maintainence centre the other day at LHR it was parked outside and I saw the crest.

G-EUPX was crestless on Sat. Perhaps you saw G-EUPK?

B734: G-DOCA/E/O/Y, G-GBTA = 5

Thanks for this. These 734s are all missing from my count of 37. I simply overlooked three of them but did not know about 'CA or 'CE.

I see that both 'CA and 'CE spent around three weeks out of service at SOF, 'CA from 4 to 26 November and 'CE from 1 to 19 January. I assume that this was when they were repainted. Does anyone know if this is correct?

I also see that 734 'CN was ferried to SOF on the day that 'CE was ferried out of SOF, 19 January. So if 'CA and 'CE were repainted at SOF, 'CN will likely be te next 734 in Crest livery.

I did have 319s G-EUOE and 'OF in my count but somehow also overlooked G-MEDK.

I am also unsure about G-EUUC. It certainly was not in my count.

My apologies I saw PX today it was indeed 'crestless'. My eyes must have deceived me! Easy mistake...

G-EUUC http://www.flickr.com/photos/pslg05896/8386446808/ with crest.

Interestingly G-EUUA has the last three on the fin, G-EUUC has the last two......

There doesn't seem to be any consistency when it comes to the repainting. G-MIDO has 'IDO' on the fin & nose gear door, several of the ex-bmi aircraft have red horizontal stabilizers still & one has red winglets still.

I think perhaps most of it depends on time regarding the paint job.If they wanted a hasty repaint then they might have only painted the fuselage and tail. Not sure if some of these birds are due back to lessors shortly either?

Has anyone cross referenced the slight differences, 3 or 2 letters on tail, red winglets and horizontal stabilisers? I know G-DBCA was painted at Heathrow. Aircraft have been painted in different locations, so could this be cause of slight differences?

Can't be too long before we see G-XLEA in full livery

I've heard on the grapevine that the three OpenSkies 757s are getting a repaint to feature both the crest and the blue underbelly/engines of its mother airline which will put the finishing touches to its relaunching, Not sure if it's true or not but certainly something to keep a eye out for.

319s G-DBCG, 'CJ, 'CI were repainted at EMA.

320s G-MIDS and 'DY and 321s G-MEDN, 'DM and 'DG were repainted at MAD.

734s G-DOCA and 'CE appear to have been repainted at SOF.

All others have been repainted by BA at LHR.
