United 767-200 Routes

Sun Oct 22, 2000 12:34 pm

What routes does UA operate their Boeing 767-200s on? All I know of is JFK-LAX/SFO, but I'm sure there's others.

DEN - SFO

DEN - BOS / BOS - DEN

SFO - BOS
SFO - IAD / IAD - SFO
SFO - JFK / JFK - SFO

LAX - BOS / BOS - LAX
LAX - JFK / JFK - LAX

I think this is it.

They have also operated JFK-LHR, anyone know if they're still used on these flights ?
My definition of cool ? Not trying so hard to be cool.

Falcon Flyer,
They use -300s for pond crossings. The -200s are used for transcontinental service.

It's very rare that we have 767-200's here now, only if there's a last minute equipment change at JFK like there was about 4 weeks ago. This resulted in flight 979 from LHR back to JFK being a -200 instead of the usual -300.

The -200's WERE used on JFK-LHR flights in the early
1990's after UA bought the routes from Pan Am. Very
early on, UA switched from 747's to 767-200's after
the mid-1990's, the 767-300ER replaced the -200's
to LHR from JFK.

From 1991 to 1995, UA operated the 747-SP from
Newark to Heathrow and then switched to the 777.

UA only has about 19 767-200's in service and they
are used on the JFK to LAX and SFO runs (although
some of these frequencies now feature the -300's)
and BOS to West Coast flights as well as some of
the transcons to other East Coast destinations.

These are some of the oldest 767-200's around,
as UA was one of the first customers back in the
late 1970's and 1982 when the plane was rolled
into commercial service.

United plans to redo the interiors of it's 767-200 aircraft. It will be interesting to see if they will makes the seat pitch in business class 48". Currently the seat pitch is 40". If they will increase the pitch then they will be able to fly the aircraft internationally again.

For the routes that the 767-200 flies. Mainly LAX-JFK SFO-JFK, SFO-IAD and LAX-BOS and SFO-Bos the business and first class cabins are not large enough. United should eliminate some coach seats (that usually fly empty) and replace them with business seats. the airline will make more money.

Aspen,
you make very good points about the coach seats. They have the ETOPS version and the regular version. If they were to fly the -200 internationaly, it would be with the ETOPS plane, and they will have the same # of seats, as they do now. For the domestic flights, having more Business class seats would be great.

I wonder if they were to operate it internationaly, they would install PTV's? I doubt it, but it would be nice.

UAL needs to update replace the 767-200s on the LAX-JFK route. The interiors are terrible, and the ammenities are nonexistent. I've already complained about it in a previous post, and I know they are updating the interiors someday, but that really does me no good now.

I'm boarding my UAL 767-200 in about 6 hours. Fun.

I believe that UA will continue to fly the 762 for at least another ten years, because the plane is reasonably fuel-efficient and also the 762 meets the ICAO Stage III standards for noise emissions.

Don't be surprised that within the next 18 months UA will completely revamp the interiors of the 762's they own as part of their D-check overhauls.

The new interiors should be started by april 2001.

FYI: UAL has completed atleast 1 744 with the new interiors and PTV's in coach. This is a special project done at OAKMB

Kinda cool ... i want to start an airline with 767-200ERs
based in DEN after the new 16,000ft RW opens, then I could launch services to NRT, SEL, HKG, TPE, HNL, LAX, JFK, IAD, DFW, AND MORE!!!

Imkeww,

Yes! All of them are going to have the new interiors. If you email me dhorne@jps.net, I can give you a lot more information.
