TED Routes/route Structure?

Mon Jan 28, 2013 5:38 am

Hello all!

I'm wondering if any of you can help me out with something. I recently saw this picture in the database of three TED a320s at TPA and it got me thinking anout TED.

I was wondering if anybody could shed some light on what their route structure was like. (i.e. where were their hubs/focus cities, did they have hubs/focus cities, etc.)

Any and all information is immensely appreciated!!

Basically Ted was just a way or united to dump first class to low yielding markets and try to offer a slightly less expensive product. It primarily served LAS PHX and Florida from the traditional united airports. Eventually UA gave up trying to compete with low costs and shrunk its presence in these airports and almost disappeared from Florida. They needed the A320 s back in mainline service when they retired the 737s.

It's main intention when founded was to compete with frontier in DEN so the majority of its flights were from there. It's fleet grew to 57 airplanes so it was quite large and it flew to Mexico and SJU.

If you have never designed an airplane part before, let the real designers do the work!

There may be a few cities missing from that map. IIRC, when UA returned to MDW briefly, it was with Ted to DEN and YV CR7s to IAD.

Yep, I flew TED a couple times between DEN and MDW.

I think you are referring to Rockford. That brief operation was with 50 seat CRJs.

Thanks! I'd have thought they would have had more of a P2P-kind of routemap.
