I believe that end of this year, at least one quarter of the fleet will already be repainted, if not one third. At that rate, the whole fleet should be repainted by 2018. By then the AA blue and white logo on the tail will be history, 2020 at the latest.

IIRC, Eagle should repaint half of their fleet (most likely ERJs that will not be retired or replaced by larger aircraft) by year-end as well. And all new Eagle deliveries of the new larger RJs like RW's E175s, and I think the EV CR2s as well, will enter the fleet in the new AA/Eagle livery.

I'd bet only aircraft due for repaint, until the merger is decided Yay or Nay. That should be coming sooner than later.
I don't understand everything I don't know about this.

How many so far?

Just N908NN & N718AN?

With N717AN and N719AN waiting?

The EV birds are all entering the fleet in old colors. This is due to some kind of "paint issue". Probably more of a stencil issue as far as one being done for the CRJ2s yet. Plus those birds have to be in the air in one week.

I dont think any of them are getting painted. If any, it will be the last few to be retired.

It has been stated in other threads that even though the 738 fleet now outnumbers the S80 fleet, it will still be several years (3-5) before all S80s are retired. More than a few will surely see the new scheme even if its only for a few years...

AA does not paint their own aircraft and never have to this extent. There is also no paint facility at DFW. From what I know, AA is using Leading Edge Aviation Services and Dean Baldwin, both of which have multiple paint facilities. The only airline in the US that has its own paint facility is DL TechOps in ATL.

Which will be the first 737 to wear the new colors straight from the factory? I noticed today that N914NN (ship 3JY) is in service now, but I didn't get a chance to confirm what color scheme she was in.

As far as flagships are concerned, it all depends on how you define flagship, the 773 is already in the new paint, or if you think that the largest number in the fleet, the debut of that one was on the first plane they showed us the new paint. The one world scheme would either be on a new 773 or on an existing one when it comes in for heavy maintenance.

There is information on this in below thread:

N914NN seems to be painted in the airline's old livery.
