AA/US Merger Impact Master Thread

Fri Feb 08, 2013 3:08 am

Due to the large amount of threads started recently on specific issues with the possible AA/US merger one master thread is being created so all information can be found and discussed in one place. Please continue from previous discussions here.
Thanks
Pat
Look at sweatpants guy. This is a 90 million dollar aircraft, not a Tallahassee strip club

This thread was a mistake. There are so many variables, the other threads separated by topic were a much better idea.

Where do you even begin:

Fleet
Hubs
Employees
HQ
Livery
Unions
Routes

I appreciate your efforts in keeping the forum clean. However with a large (potential) transaction like this it may be easier for people to find specific topics they are interested in if the threads are separate. Just a thought.

One area that is important is what will change (versus discussing speculation on whether there will be a deal or not), if anything, in terms of frequent flier programs, hubs, alliances, etc. This seems to be something where everyone is speculating but there are some answers out there.

I found two good FAQs on this

Clearly, more info will be trickling out as a possible merger announcement approaches but, despite the momentum, nothing is set in stone.

Have to agree. These master large threads cause things to get buried too fast and you end up with 5 different parts with in a week, with the other parts archived and tucked away. I can appreciate trying to keep things orderly, but in something like this it is just going to cause more chaos. Bad call.

Does anyone have any opinion or historical facts to share on what impact the AA/US merger will have on the DCA beyond perimeter routes? Both airlines have flights which take advantage of exemptions to the rule.

Will whichever airline is regarded as the acquiring airline matter?

What are the odds that any of these flights will be an issue in the release of DCA slots which is expected in order for the merger to gain regulatory approval?
