That's very sad to see. They have served the Irish market and in particular the regional airports well for the last number of years.
Hope the staff manage to find other employment soon.

Maybe UX is interested in a the A330s (though they're old). With Orbest gone and IB retreating from long haul, it looks as if UX can need some additional A330s.

BTW what's the relation between the Spanish Orbest and the Portugese one? Is it the same airline?

It was the same holding company - so AFAIK both companies are down...

True, you can read here (sorry only in Spanish): http://www.preferente.com/noticias-d...planea-volar-el-sabado-236989.html

Maybe now is the best chance to enter the market for AIR PLUS ULTRA: http://www.plusultra.com/ :

I still see Orbest flights operating today on Flight radar. Are they still going?

AFAIK, UX is very interested in Orbest - but the deal is blocked by the Spain's National Competition Commission (at least for the moment). According to sources close to the airline, Orbest will run out of money by the end of the week - if the deal is not getting through!

Was is the status of EC-LEQ? The Chilean airline Aerolínea Principal Chile S.A. (PAL) recently wet-leased the A-330-300 from Orbest in order to operate charter flights from SCL to CUN, HAV, PUJ, and VRA...

Yet AEA and IWD code charge on some flights....difficult to see why there should be a hold up to saying yes really...

Being integrated into UX is probably the best outcome for all. While I understand the competition concern since both UX and Orbest served the typical Caribbean destinations, the (current) market is showing that it cannot support two airlines (actually 3 until IB pulled out). And letting UX grow would actually even improve competition, as it would compete better against IB. I hope the deal goes through in the end.

Skyliner aviation website shows the A320´s returned or transfered so it looks like the end? Shame.

Are you sure they are closing down? It was reported in another thread that 1 A330 and a few A320's would continue.

Aren't they currently flying CCS-MAD for V0 until Conviasa can get their 340 up to standards? What's V0 going to do if Orbest closes
