JetBlue Expands Aer Lingus Partnership

Wed Feb 20, 2013 4:28 pm

JetBlue Airways has filed with the DOT to expand its relations with Aer Lingus.

JetBlue and Aer Lingus propose to commence free sale codesharing on April 1, 2013 via BOS and JFK gateways.

I also believe the April 1st date coincides with Aer Lingus moving to T-5 at JFK.

Good for both parties! It'll be good for both to help fill up seats.

Here's the link: http://airlineroute.net/2013/02/20/b...%2Bmedia&utm_campaign=tweets130220

Now why does the codeshare agreement cover so many more routes out of BOS than JFK? In fact, AUS, ROC, and SYR are the only routes the codeshare will cover out of JFK that it won't out of BOS.

Unless B6 plans on adding a second flight or adjusting their scedule on the SJC-BOS route, there will be a 12 hr layover in BOS.

Also confirms Aer Lingus moving T-5. Scheduled on April 3rd. This will allow for connections between airlines in as little as 40-60 minutes.

Aer Lingus are adding a lot of extra capacity into Boston this summer. I guess this is a means of ensuring that capacity is filled.

There'll also be extra capacity to Chicago and one extra rotation a week to MCO.

EI has an extra A330 with the UAL IAD-MAD operation over so they must be adding flights.

Keep in mind, this is a ONE WAY codeshare.

EI will put their code on JB flights. JB will not put their code on EI flights.

Similar deal with LH.

The summer schedule has been announced already with the extra BOS and ORD flights. As for extra capacity in the winter however this will be negated by the Novair contract where EI will be operating (EI flight crew, Novair cabin crew) from CPH, OSL, HE'LL & ARN to Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, Port of Spain and Punta Cana so I imagine that pretty hectic schedule doesn't allow much room for expansion out of Ireland.
