Is There A Final Seating Config For DL 737-900ER?

Fri Feb 22, 2013 4:54 pm

First of all I searched and saw this topic discussed extensively last June and July (2012), but nowhere did I find some actual confirmation on how this aircraft will be configured. There was speculation on 20F, perhaps 24E+ and 140~ E. It seems like the consensus is that first deliveries will take place in Q3 2013, so that could be as short as just over 4 months from now. Are there anyupdates on the actual seating configuration that will be rolled out?

It will be 20F, 21 Economy Comfort, and 139 regular Economy. Total of 180 seats.

First class will have 11" PTV screens, while Y will get 9" monitors. AVOD selection will mirror what's on the international 747s and 767s, i.e., 300+ movies, etc.

Interestingly, that seating configuration will be more dense than CO/UA's 739s even before removing a row for Economy Plus. The UA config was 20/153 before the Y+ mod, 20/147 after.

On DL, F pitch will be 37' compared to 38' for UA; E+ pitch on DL will be 34' compared to 35' for UA. Both will have 31' pitch for Y.

There was a lengthy aircraft config post by an employee on that other aviation board a few months ago. Excerpt:

The first 12 of 100 737-900ERs will enter service in the fourth quarter of 2013 and will offer all passengers a great flying experience. The cabin is divided into 20 First Class seats at 37” pitch, 21 Economy Comfort seats at 34” pitch and 139 Economy seats averaging 31” pitch. The first thing you’ll notice is the bright and modern Boeing Sky Interior (BSI) and the enhanced mood lighting. Boeing really did a fantastic job with the interior design and we’re excited to introduce the BSI to Delta customers.

According to seatguru, UA has two configs on their B739s; either 20F/51Y+/96Y (167 seats) or 20F/18Y+135Y (173 seats). I assume that one row of DL's Y+ has only three seats because the other side of the aisle has something else preventing seats being available.

There is a rest room across from the first row of coach seats. Same on UA. Alaska puts all the restrooms in the rear.

I assume the set of doors aft of the wings will be plugged like on UA?
