MSP Spotters Iberia A346 At MSP Right Now

Tue Feb 26, 2013 10:49 pm

For you photo guys, there is an Iberia A346 that diverted to MSP, from ORD due to the bad weather down there. It looks to be leaving soon according to Flightaware. Someone close to the airport might get a shot.

There is also a Qantas 744. It looks like a charter that diverted also due to weather at ORD from JFK.

Looks like it will be there until 9:20pm tonight.

Looking at the activity log, they were diverting to MSN before deciding on MSP. Probably not often MSN sees a 744.

BTW, that is most likely an Atlas/Polar bird.

That's a cargo flight. Not in QF livery, just a QF flight number

Looks like these flights arrived during my shift at work, but sadly I did not see them (I work pretty close to MSP). I was even considering doing some spotting after work but decided not to.

Well at least in a few months will get some more A340 action, when Air France starts service.

Well that is the dumbest thing I have seen! What a disappointment!

Why do they use airline flight numbers?

QF Freight wet leases three 744F from Atlas for cargo ops to/from China and the US. A wet lease means they use the lessee's (QF) flight numbers and QF will be billed directly for airport and landing fees, fuel, taxes, etc.

Not related to weather in Chicago, but another diversion to MSP!

I'm at MSP now, and just saw it land. I went out just to do some late night spotting, and saw emergency equip all down the field. I flipped on my scanner just in time hear it on final. It was a hydraulic problem. The captain said the center hydraulic fluid was low I believe. It did taxi to the gate under it's own power. Unfortunately It's too dark to get a picture of the AA 767.

On a side note, before AA20 arrived, an Omni air 762 took off. Flightaware shows it going to Guam. That's an impressive distance, even If empty. Block time over 15 hrs.
