G-MEDH was in SOF for EOL MX from 29Jan-27Feb and then returned to LGW before being ferried to SNN.

I tried to find G-BNWW and found some old pictures.I think they not recent one. So do they use this typical plane to paint the nose every year? which sector she will be flying today?

Thanks BA777ER236

I would love to their 747 with red nose, I think it will suit 747 better than 777.

It's doing the Comic Relief 25th anniversary 'Gig in the Sky' flight at the moment. On board are 80s pop stars such as Tony Hadley!

There's certainly not that many with the 2012 logo, in three hours on Sat I saw one aircraft with the remnants of the sticker and that was it. Most were removed before we hit 2013.

Saw a couple of the "dove" 319's flying around with blue panels ...

Really makes them look odd... + the fact, they're getting quite dirty now, maybe time to paint them again...!

Does anyone know when G-XLEA is due to get her full new paint? I haven't seen any news on this since she went for interior fit out a month or two ago?

It's also gone quiet on the crest front too, hardly any mention on TheBaSource the last two months- does anyone have an updated list please?

Cheers

I believe that 772 G-V IIT has also now got a white nose but retains the sam e "Flying Start" sticker aft of Cabin Door #2.

EC's 752 G-HAVI was ferried to ORY from the BA LHR Paint Shop on 23 March - arrived LHR from HHN 2 March - now repainted in BA Union Flag livery without the "Speedmarque" and with 'OpenSkies' instead of 'BRITISH AIRWAYS' titles:

So adding to tcx69k crest list and aircraft mentioned further down post we now have 50 aircraft with the crest, 51 if you include G-XLEA. The 380 probably shouldn't count as not delivered yet.

Is HAVI now a G instead of an F? I remember F-GPEK flew as G-BPEK with OpenSkies for a while before they moved to L'avions old AOC.

Thanks for the list VV701. Its interesting that the first two crests were applied in autumn 2011 then no more crests for 7 months. Were they not sure if to apply crest to whole fleet for a while i wonder? Then from May 12 the volume increased on average 4-5 a month through to December 2012.
Volume has decreased slightly since Dec 12 but I would say a lot of the crests last year were due to the BMI buses being repainted. Good list!

Actually we might count the seven Dwarves, no wait Doves in there as well. They all carry it as well :
G-EUPA / D / G / H
G-EUOH
G-DBCB / D
It splits as 50 (+7) BA
24 of which are BMI additions and 26(+7) are BA re-sprays.

It will a long wait for a need for a respray on the Embraers or the two A318s so I think that's all the new types we'll be seeing until the Screamliner arrives.

I think there are two reasons for this.

With a quite large ex-BD fleet to repaint BA sent three aircraft to the former BD paint shop at EMA in the summer and six to the IB paint shop at MAD during the autumn. This speeded things up. Then very recently the BA paint shop at LHR was used to paint an EC 752, slightly slowing the rate of painting BA aircraft.

It is difficult to know how frequently an aircraft needs to be repainted. Looking back ten or so years, BA used to repaint their short haul aircraft (that spend more hours flying through the weather than do the long haul types) about once every five years and their long haul aircraft every six or seven years or so. But today paint technology is more advanced and there is undoubtedly a longer interval between individual aircraft visiting the paint shop.

Nevertheless with the size of their current fleet and each paint job taking about a week we are looking at the possibility of 50 or so aircraft needing and being repainted each year. This makes repainting the fleet an almost continuous operation. And by this time next year there should be around 100 BA aircraft with the crest.

G-ZBJA should be rolled out at PAE in the next week or so. But we will have to wait a little longer to see it (hopefully) in the Crest livery.

Yes. A lot longer. Unlikely before mid 2015 if at all. They are operated by BA CityFlyer. So, unlike BA's Main and Gatwick Fleets, they do not carry 'Royal Mail' titles and logo. Hence I wonder whether or not they will be repainted in the Crest livery when their time arrives?

There must also be some doubt about the two 318s. Certainly they carry the 'Royal Mail' titles / logo. But they were painted while they were being prepared for operation by British Airways plc and before they were transferred to British Airways (BA) Ltd. With the hop to SNN they get exposed to the weather a bit more than other BA long haul aircraft with three instead of two departures / arrivals in a typical working day. Nevertheless I do not think the first will need repainting until after the first of the E-Jets have visited the BA Paint Shop on probably what will be first visit to LHR (unless then experience a weather diversion which, at least to LHR, is most unlikely. (The only time the three original high Density 772's, G-VIIO, 'IP and 'IR based at LGW since they were delivered back in the spring of 1998 have been to LHR was to visit the BA Paint Shop).

There are also the Sun-Air's DO 328s and Comair's 733s. They might be repainted in the Crest livery when there time arrives. But again we will have to wait and see.

So after the 787 the next new type to carry the Crest will likely be the 77W in the guise of G-STBG when it is delivered in September

I think there are two reasons for this.

There's a third reason, closer inspection of the list shows that the LHR paintshop has worked on 6 x 772 & 1 x 744 in the first three months of this year, In the previous three months they sprayed 1 x 763, 4 x 319, 4 x 320 & 4 x 321. Same amount of paint, sprayed over fewer, larger airframes.

Found a mistake in my original listing of repainted aircraft. #45, 734 G-DOCE was rolled out at LHR (not SOF) on 4/9/12 (not 19/1/13). This alters #21 to 44 inclusive with the corrections below. It also throws some doubt on #36 n the revised list (G-DOCA) so I am checking that out. Sorry.

G-EUPC had the crest as part of the firefly scheme. That makes it the only plane to have worn it twice. Firstly in June when it rolled out in yellow, and then when re painted in November.

It also throws some doubt on #36 n the revised list (G-DOCA) so I am checking that out.

There's photos on the forum of EUPC wearing the crest as early as May 5th 2012. That makes it the 1st 319 to wear it.

' PC wore the crest in Firefly colours, whereas the date above is it's repaint into the standard Chatham livery.

   Thanks.

'PC has worn it all excepting the "Dove" livery:

1. In standard BA Union Flag livery until sometime after 11 Feb 12

2. Before 16 Mar 12 rolled out with "London 2012 / BRITISH AIRWAYS / proud airline partner of the / Olympic and Paralympic Games / London 2012 " sticker

3. 2 May 12 last flight w/o BA Heraldic Crest on fuselage

4. 16 May 12 rolled out in BA Firefly London 2012 livery that included Heraldic Crest

5. Carried Olympic Flame ATH-CDR (18 May), LPL-IOM (2 Jun), SOU-GCI-JER-SOU (15 Jul)

6. LHR-LHR Team GB Parade fly-past over London and Mall in BA Firefly livery now with large "THANK YOU" on fuselage underside

7. ALC-LHR. Last flight BA Firefly livery 10 Nov

8. RO LHR 16 Nov Union Flag Crest livery

So no less than five liveries or livery variations in around nine months.
