I was flying out of NRT
at that time! MAN OH MAN
was that a crazy day in Tokyo. Not only were the winds nuts at the airport, but downtown as well. Dangerously so even, as at one point, the wind picked up a metal cafe sign and threw it towards me forcing me to duck.
Our flight out (SQ12, an A388) ended up being delayed after boarding. The winds rocked the plane back and forth at the gate for probably about an hour before we were allowed to taxi and take off. Watching all the planes land, however, we could see them just being tossed around, including the big 777s and 747s.
I've never seen wind like that.
Check out 5:29 of this one, same day.
If you see a SQ388, look carefully, and you might see me.
