Sun Mar 24, 2013 8:02 pm

What are the largest (in terms of tonnage) markets for LH cargo? Is there information available for this?

Thanks, Bruce.

Not individual routes but regional breakdown for 2012 in their website.

The cargo load factors are surprisingly low, is that normal for a cargo airline? Maybe the MD-11F is too much aircraft?

I'm guessing that the cargo must be high yielding to make up for the low loads.

LCAG markets all belly capacities of the passenger airline, oif ypou look at the European figures with the many flights on certaon routes which have little freight demand, especially during the day, this explains the low load factor.

Also please bear in mind that freighters operate fixed routes, they don't just fly when the flight is full. It is an exact copy of what passenger flight are like. Some flights are full and some aren't.

The MD-11F has it's good and bad points but LH Cargo still operates a fleet of 18 of them and the market is world wide except for the Australia and beyond. New markets open and old ones close.
There are a couple of areas where LH Cargo is very strong, namely North America and Asia.

Take North America, the follow cities enjoy direct freighter flights to the FRA hub: JFK, ORD, DTW, YYZ, ATL, DFW, IAH, LAX, MEX and MTY.

With Asia, North America and the center of Europe connected via FRA, there will always be a healthy business for LH Cargo, with their own full freighters and the space onboard the pax flights of Lufthansa.
Zanair flight, please hold on finals as we have to clear rhino's off the runway. Next flight KUL-FRA-AMS Flown in A319,A
