Embraer EMB-120 Brasilia Still In Production?

Tue Oct 24, 2000 7:33 am

Are they still in production for airlines? Last time I went to Embraer's site they didn't even mention it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Have you checked their website?

http://www.embraer.com

It is not shown in their product line, so I would guess they have stopped production. I could be wrong though.

I think that they stoped it a few months ago, but I'm not sure. I know that the newest ones that SkyWest has are 3 years old.

Yes I checked there website, they don't even mention the EMB-120 which is strange. Why would they stop production? Its a wonderful aircraft. Anyone know?

In 1998 14 Brasilias were produced, this number decreased to only 7 last year. I don't know about this year's numbers but I guess they will produce it as long as any arline is interested in buying it. Recently they sold 10 cargo conversion kits to an American company.

The Brasilia website is at

http://www.embraer.com/ing/av120a.htm

And about the production, Great Lakes also took delivery of some models in 1995, and FYI-- SkyWest (OO) has SOME planes that are 3 years old.... they are LAX based.... SOME of SkyWest's Brasilias are also about 11 years old now.. just depends what the tail #s are... I know they bought anything that would fly when United awarded them the contract.... you'll find some of the aging Brasilias out of the Seattle and Portland "mini hubs" or FOCUS (focii? hrm.. maybe I should check the Airbii / Airbux thread?) Cities for you TWA peeps.

Embraer has stated they will maintain the tooling for the Brasilia for a few more years until it is deemed unprofitable to do so.... hopefully there will be a few more orders coming in for the PW118A Embraer Brasilia... even though I'd rather see a PW123 in there (we can dream, can't we???)

I don't know if embraer is still producing the EMB 120, but I did read some where don't remember where though, that skywest airlines brought the last 15 or so that were maufactured and they took delivery of the last one about a year ago.
I think they had more on order but cancelled them.
I think it is flying around as N586SW not postive about tail # though.

maybe skywest employees in tech ops know.

OUT!

I read a couple of years back that Embraer was cutting back production and staff on the EMB-120 to conentrate on the ERJ-135. Makes perfect sense, since the RJs are selling like hotcakes.

Actually, this begs the question... are there any 30-seat turboprops in production anywhere?

BA.. heh..

The Dash 8 - Q300, YES Q300, is a 50 seater, not a 30 seater.. the Dash 8 Q200 is still in production, as well as a Q100 if they want it.

Embraer will only produce additional Brasilias if the order is large enough and significant w/ upfront financing...
