First SSJ-100 For Moskovia

Tue Apr 02, 2013 6:15 pm

Here is the first picture of the ex Armavia plane, now ready for delivery to his new operator, it's funny to think that there is a used SSJ-100 on the market.

The best looking SSJ out there at the moment. Moskovia has a nice livery!

Agreed!

Not sure if true, but there is speculation out of Russia this was an April fools' joke.

Not a massively funny one if that's the case... Funnier would be Moskovia receiving a newly-built tu-104 or Antonov 225!

Would this be Armavia's second, never delivered aircraft? Or Armavia's first aircraft returned after bankrupcty? Given that Armavia's bankrupcty is very recent, and the time needed for painting, I assume it is the second undelivered aircraft, so not used.

The Moskovia plane is the first Armavia SSJ previous reg. was EK-95015. The second one has never been part of the Armavia fleet, even if it still wear the Armavia colors...

It has been repossesed back last summer I believe when it was undergoing planned maintanence in Zhukovksy. So plenty of time for them to get a new buyer and repaint the plane.
Funny thing is that originally Armavia actually bought both of their SSJ's rather than leased them, and then they sold it to the leasing company when their financial problems started. In turn the leasing company they sold it to leased it back to them. Well, and then they didn't pay up so...repo

Unlikely. Moskovia was being included, alongside Armavia and Aeroflot, on recent technical bulletins for SSJs.

The picture is a fake! Look at the floor, the aircraft has a blue belly but reflection show a white belly. And yes, it was an April fools' joke from planepix.ch.

But there were rumors that Moskovia get SSJs

I'd be curious to know why someone would take the trouble to replicate all the detail of the name, the tail art, and the reflection of the engine colours in the floor, and forget the fuselage...and if it's a joke, it completely misses the point of April Fool.

Moskovia had a preliminary agreement for up to five SSJs, three of which would be firm.

The following image is of the Armavia SSJ in what is clearly the same hangar as the image provided by lollomz. Thus it seems reasonable to assume that the repaint is genuine, with the picture below having been taken before the repaint. The Moskovia livery looks great on this aircraft, almost as much so as Armavia's. Armavia's second SSJ, which was never delivered, is registered RA-89021.

Moskovia placed an order for 3 + 3 SSJ at MAKS 2011. The picture is legit IMO.

Yes, but as you say Armavia took the plane back under a sale-and-lease-back agreement... only to have it reposessed again when they went bankrupt. So if this is indeed the 1st Armavia plane, it's been a very quick reposession and repainting!

I noticed that the Armavia plane has Yuri Gagarin's name painted on it. Did they paint the name of other notable Soviet people on their ac?

You think that 8 months is too short a time to repo and repaint? Considering the aircraft are in demand, I think it is quite possible. It is not like it is some 20 year old B767 in the desert.
Having said that, I have no knowledge if it is genuine or not.

Also, the other plane for Armavia is still not delivered, and I believe it is still incomplete. The issue here is that Armavia was BUYING the aircraft and not leasing them. So they had to pay installments at different stages (like when they signed and when the aircraft was ready to fly, for example), since they missed their payments, production of the second frame stopped and Sukhoi cannot sell it to someone else further down the production line because it is not really Sukhoi's property...From what I have heard, they are in the process of reposessing the incomplete frame. It's fate is unknown. May not even be completed as it is a very early frame. Sad. What was Sukhoi thinking making a pothetic unstable airline the launch customer?

The aircraft (EK95015) hasn't been used by Armavia for months.

Yes - generally those of armenian descent. Other aircraft names include Aram Khachatryan (composer), Arno Babajanian (another composer), Martiros Saryan (artist) and Sergey Mergelyan (theoretical mathematician).
