Ryanair Doesn't Rule Out A320NEO

Thu Apr 11, 2013 6:27 pm

http://www.latribune.fr/entreprises-...neosi-airbus-baisse-ses-prix-.html

In one word: If A320NEO price is cheaper than this of 737MAX , they will buy it.

Is this only to lower 737MAX price ?

The question is however will Airbus sell it to them as Airbus are on record of refusing to deal with FR in the past
Must think up a new one soon, slow moving brain trying to get into gear ;)

Is this as serious as FR with COMAC?
Low-cost carrier Ryanair has reiterated that its discussions with Chinese airframer Comac on the potential development of a stretched 199-seat variant of its C919 twinjet are serious and could still yield an order for delivery in the 2018-20 timeframe.

http://www.flightglobal.com/news/art...genuine-serious-commitment-376057/

With their latest order, is FR even really in the market now?

Airbus will still make offers. They just will not negotiate in detail with FR until they are more certain they have a chance of winning the order.

Stating the obvious, of course O'Leary would buy the cheapest aircraft out there. But will Airbus give him a good price? I doubt it.

"We will buy the day their Airbus planes would be cheaper than Boeing."

In an other life maybe.

Of course they don't, they'd be stupid to potentially lose leverage.

That said, it will probably be a while before Airbus runs out of buyers willing to pay more for slots than Ryanair is willing to pay.

If MOL thinks that Airbus will cut him a discount, he's wrong. I seem to recall John Leahy telling O' Leary that he was welcome to order all the Airbus metal he wanted...at list price. Leahy doesn't want FR using Airbus to get a better deal out of Boeing... that's why (at least for the time being) Airbus won't negotiate with MOL.

Cheers,

Jonas

"Nous entretenons une relation sur le long terme avec Boeing. Mais si Airbus venait nous voir en nous proposant des prix inférieurs, nous achèterions », a-t-il déclaré à La Tribune."

Loose translation: "We have a long term relationship with Boeing. But if Airbus came to us with lower prices, we would buy from them," he told La Tribune.

Sounds like he's saying that if Airbus came to him with a deal that undercut Boeing he would be prepared to operate a mixed fleet.

I think we all can agree to that. But the chance of Airbus supplying a price to Boeing that met those conditions...

Even then he's bluffing. Airbus could bid $1M less per airframe and I'll bet MOL wouldn't bite. At this point, the cost to convert their massive fleet from Boeing to Airbus is just too much.

Yes, because they keep their planes only until first D-check (around 7 years or so). 2018 will be the time to start replacing their 737s from their famous "I raped Boeing" order.

I hear Ryanair are negotiating with the BBC to buy some quality Tardis equipment, which will be modified by Comac, adding 189 seats.

With the way the 320neo family is selling, why should Airbus cut prices further to suit MOL in his negotiating leaverage with Boeing? No, Airbus should continue to tell him to stick it.

Timing is wrong for trying to get a giveaway price, I think. With no deliveries the A320NEO order pile gets higher with every new order. Who knows how large it will be by the time FR is in a position to place a large order to replace aircraft. I can't see that there is any attraction to Airbus in quoting an extraordinarily low price to use production slots they can sell at a higher price.

Sorry for being coarse but I have not ruled out getting a blow job from Elle McPherson - I have about the same odds as Ryanair getting a deal from Airbus though.

The recent order was a fleet replacement and expansion order. (I think 90 extra frames on top of their current circa 300 fleet) They chose well with the NG in order to get low prices, the MAX is backlogged and no guarantee that schedule will not slip. FR have stated that they may return soon for a decision on MAX order to follow.

It is all about prices. John Leahy has said that Ryanair is asking so low prices that Airbus won't accept. They are not going to sell planes so cheap just to get large orders.

Airbus also has a very long backlog for their NEO aircraft. New customers will get their first aircraft maybe in 2020 or something like that. That is just too long time to wait for a LCC.

I wouldn't be surprised if Airbus won't get so many NEO orders in the near future ans Boeing would get many big orders for MAX. Airlines can get faster deliveries from Boeing, because they don't have as many orders as Airbus has, yet.

The newly offered high density 321neo might suit FR well on their most popular routes if they decide to upsize from their standard 738. It can hold a lot more pax than the 739max.

The current difference in backlog just about matches the difference in launch dates at full production rates - I doubt there's very much difference in availability. My expectation is that neo sales will always head those of MAX simply by virtue of having started earlier (assuming they both maintain very similar production rates).
