How Many DC-10'S Still Carry Passengers?

Hello all,

I was wondering how many DC-10's are still on passenger routes?

Have nearly all DC-10's been converted into freight?
A318/19/20/21, 330-2/3, 345, 380, B737-4/6/7/8 B763 B743/4 B777-2/3 B787-8

Technically, even freighters carry passengers (supernumeraries) from time to time.

Biman Bangladesh are still flying one on passenger routes.

Bangladesh Biman are the only carrier still operating passenger DC-10 services, according to the Last Chance To Fly book.

How long it will be before these are replaced by Boeing 777s I don't know - I suspect not too long.

Biman is the last one, flying from Bangladesh to Abu Dhabi and return.
The flights are cheap (even a one way) and it's a great experience.
I flew from Abu Dhabi to DaKha via Sylhet in February

Suggestions as to how to book? Do they have a website in English? What's the best carrier to fly to Abu Dhabi?

I have seen Biman in AUH, the grand old lady of the skies, the DC10. It's Biman, so they do have cancellations sometimes, so be warned.

Just for kicks, I priced out a four day scenario from ORD. For four days, doing nothing but flying (no hotel rooms) and booked in economy, three weeks out, one can get their DC-10 flight in for a mere $2850USD. This is a 24 hours of flight to Abu Dhabi (three legs), a six hour lay your DC-10 leg out, 3 hour layover, your DC-10 flight back, another 8 hour layover and then 25 hours of flight back to ORD viz three legs. LOL...sounds exhausting to me with a needed week long holiday to recover after returning.

I was checking the status of the charter airline Omni Air International and the DC-10 is no longer available into the current fleet.

LOL ... I appreciate your enthusiasm, seriously! DAC seems to be the only where you can catch several operational DC-10s on the ground. I got some nice pictures in January this year ... will post in this thread later today.

Haha ... you know, many people need more than 3 hours to reach their house in Dhaka! 
Biman flights are notorious for being late, and cancelled without much help. So a 3 hours layover is really calling for trouble. If possible, make it a good part of the day.

Better yet, take a few days off and see little bit of Bangladesh. The domestic Regent Airways is really good ... you can fly them to Cox's Bazar (CXB) ... the southern tip of the country, a beach resort town. Flights are cheap and professional and you'll get a flare for Bangladesh local traffic and hospitality. You can go to the domestic terminal without stepping outside the airport - you can get tickets online. Stay at Ocean Paradise hotel in CXB if you do go ... it's very nice and affordable (http://www.oceanparadisehotel.com)

But if you are crazy enough ... step outside Dhaka airport and enjoy the madness for a day! Big grin
