ATL-CDG CDG-ATL In A Day

Tue Oct 24, 2000 10:46 pm

I went to Paris and back in about 20hrs. I flew out on AF 777 GSPA and came back on the DL 777 with the salt lake 2002 theme livery. I spent about 2hrs at CDG which was fun and i got some neat pics. The AF flight was really nice and they have a good IFE system while DL is lacking in the department. Also I enjoy the 3-3-3 layout rather than the 2-5-2 which makes no sense to me. Anyway, it was a fun trip. Got to have un sandwhich de jambon.

merci.

I once flew CDG-ATL-CDG for about $180 roundtrip (student fare), 2 day advace purchase, and they gave me miles, so the effective cost was even lower. Now I have to go ATL-ANU one way mid-December and it looks like it will be the same price via Paris as it is via MIA(~$620), so I might go to Paris and hang for a few days. I do have to say those people who decide fares are NUTS

Nuts indeed... My brother is going to Madrid in December with KL. Lucky him he's not going to Amsterdam as KL charges less for YUL-AMS-MAD and return than YUL-AMS...There's a $C350 difference!

sounds fun, but did you do it in coach class? A few more details would be appreciated. I did Ric-Atl-Zrh-Cvg-Ric in about 34 hours. I was exhausted when i got home, even though i was in business class. Nonrevers do that all the time by the way

Are you guys taking round-trip flights just for the sake of the flights, and not staying anywhere for a few days? Seems a waste of good flying to me... I knew a guy in college who would spend all his extra money taking day trips like that - flying round-trip between cities, leaving in the morning and coming back in the evening. I never quite understood it, but I guess to each his own!

All sorts of airlines give you cheaper fares if you aren't flying directly to the main hub for some reason, I've seen Finnair fares that were something akin to $588 r/t to Helsinki, but $508 to places like Oslo, Stockholm, Budapest, Tallinn, etc.

Qantas777: That little?!?!?! Wow... I gotta see if British Airways (or another oneworld partner would pull something like that for me on a SFO-LHR trip... due to being a Finnair Plus member, I can fly on both AA & BA transatlantic flights and get miles on them

Round Trip In A Day

Wed Oct 25, 2000 7:34 am

When I was younger, My goal was to make such trips, I mean just flying for the whole week end and come back.

Good to know some people are even more crazy about planes than you are (I think about some of my friend's remarks !)

Until now I've always managed to stay for long periods (4 to 60 days) in the countries I was visiting.
For me it is also part of the exitement.

But one day I will try this, sure !

see u !

More tales of a non-rev...

I've done several day-trips to Europe, all in 8 days. I'd spend the day in London or Paris, and return back to the U.S. the same night. In 8 days I did 8 transatlantic crossings... it was the most fun I've had in my life...

Monday - Washington-London
Tuesday - London-Washington
Wednesday - Washington-Paris
Thursday - Paris-Washington
Friday - Washington-Brussels
Saturday - Brussels-Washington
Sunday - Washington-Amsterdam
Monday - Amsterdam-Washington

30,000 miles in 8 days. Tiring, but entirely worth it! Lots of great pics too.
