Missing Air Incident Report. How To Find?

Thu Apr 18, 2013 7:24 am

In Dec 2006 I was on board an Air Canada 767 from Calgary to Montego Bay. We diverted to Kansas City part way through the flight and after landing with fire trucks along side we uneventfully disembarked and waited most of the day for a replacement aircraft to fly in and take us on our way. I was in row 1 and heard the captain say there had been smoke in the cockpit.

I happened to be on a site, airsafe.com, where I saw a link to accident reports. I was curious to see what the cause was but was unable to see any record of this in the canadian or faa databases.

Anyone here know why I can't find this or where the report would be. surely they would have to file something for a diversion like that. wouldn't they?

I can't speak for Canada, but in the States, information on incidents not investigated by NTSB isn't available more than 10 days after the incident. I don't see why NTSB would have investigated this diversion, as it sounds like no one was injured and the aircraft was not damaged.

ok. thanks. No, nobody was injured. I just thought "smoke in cockpit" would be something that was investigated.

FAA may have investigated, but they don't generate reports. NTSB--who does generate reports--did not.
