Nice addition. I wonder if an A320 is too much for these routes? Anyways, nice to hear new service coming from TPA

What are their existing flights?

Is this the first ever RSW-BDL?

I could of sworn either AirTran or Southwest had this last year on a seasonal basis. I could be mistaken though.

A while back DL flew it...using either MD88's or CRJ700's.

This is great news, I have been waiting for this addition! New Englanders love B6 and this routes are incredibly lucrative and will do very well.

Southwest currently serves RSW & TPA from BDL. RSW is 1x daily on a seasonal basis and TPA is 2-1x daily depending on the time of year.

Delta used to fly to RSW (I remember flying this on an MD88 in 2007). Delta also used to fly to TPA 2x daily on MD88s. Needless to say, TPA is vastly underserved and can certainly use both the added capacity and competition from B6.

I'd expect WN to end RSW. They ended PBI service after B6 announced it. As I said, New Englanders really are quite loyal to B6 and WN doesn't seem too interested in competing against B6 in the northeast.

WN is currently flying RSW-BDL through May 31:

BDL-RSW:

1040-1345 737

RSW-BDL:

1425-1720 737

B6 will have a similar schedule as what Southwest is currently running ( the schedule below is effective October 27):

BDL-RSW:

1140-1500 A320

RSW-BDL:

1545-1840 A320

WN has the current schedules open until the end of October, and RSW-BDL does not appear to be included non-stop for summer or fall. On May 6 WN will extend their booking window and cover at least part of November - it will be interesting to see if RSW-BDL returns. The route was originally started as seasonal on Southwest from Feb. 12, 2011 until April 9, 2011.

As far as BDL-TPA goes, WN currently flies the route 2x daily, dropping to 1x daily this September. Here are the schedules:

WN BDL-TPA (October schedule):

1400-1700 737

TPA-BDL:

1045-1325 737

B6 BDL-TPA:

0910-1220 A320

TPA-BDL:

1225-1515 A320

I wouldn't be surprised to see WN price match B6 and/or add back the second TPA frequency as well as RSW this winter, as WN responded quickly to B6 adding BOS-HOU.

Current timetable has the following flights from BDL:

2x FLL
2x MCO
1x SJU
1x PBI

So if this schedule remains, they will have 8 dialy flights when these new flights start.

Looking forward to seeing PVD-RSW to follow in the footsteps... NK used to fill a 321 and a 319 daily during the peak season of Dec-April (A319 year around)

The Northeast to Florida is really an almost endless market. Yields are not the best. During peak times, it seems like almost everyone wants to fly south, but only if they can get a decent fare.

Its great to see more capacity added!

I have been wondering about this route, and it is nice to see Jetblue expand in TPA. Hopefully they could also add international destinations from TPA, but no complaints.

IIRC WN announced it shortly after B6 did. They are also offering $99 each way fares (pretty cheap for a 4 hr. flight).

Good to see more expansion in BDL, there are plenty of places they can go from there as well. I think BDL can support flights to other cities like DCA or SFO. It's a shame to see that AA beat B6 to BDL-LAX/LGB, but B6 might be able to get BDL-SFO to work (the Bay Area currently has 170 PDEW, which is a little small but they can poach some pax who otherwise would go to BOS, JFK, or EWR).

Has B6 recieved more gate space at BDL? I know they were trying to get more to start more service. Does anybody knowif they actually did?

I think this will be a success. B6 has a very loyal following and I believe there will be success.
Next flight: TUL-ATL-CLT CRJ900 and MD88

JetBlue's recent announcement of ORH service leaves ALB and MHT as the only two big markets in the Northeast unserved by B6. I'd bet that ALB could support 2x-MCO and 1x-FLL daily to complement existing WN service in those markets. Probably something similar from MHT. Thoughts?

B6 should add PVD-PBI. A320 during season and E190 off peak. WN's seasonal experiment with this market has proven very successful and from what I hear they may add a year round frequency.

JetBlue flights at BDL do very well....Every time I've flown them, the planes have been packed. Huge market of travelers from Southern New England heading south as well as a large Hispanic population as well as vacationers and cruise passengers headinng to SJU. If they are looking to add any more destinations out of BDL, a BDA nonstop would do great...lots of people here vacation and do business on that island...and perhaps a flight or two to JFK to connect the dots to the rest of the B6 system....the traffic through CT on I-91/I-95 can be horrific.
