The flight in question was on route from CUN-MAN with 338 PAX's on board, it made an emergency landing on the 'British Territory' Island of Bermuda (BDA) with a possible fire and smoke in the cabin.

No Injuries or fire was found. The emergency was declared at around 20:20 and the plane landed safely in BDA around 40 mins later.

'Sky News' in the UK Picked the story up, and i'm in Beijing reading about it..

this is also the media site in Bermuda - not every day they get some hardcore stories... plenty of pics..

The Aircraft appears to be a Thomas Cook Scandinavia Airbus A330-200 (OY-VKF) which is currently on lease to it's UK partners for the Summer.

Heard it on HF last night, declared mayday at 2258z with "cabin fire". POB 326+12 and 44 tonnes of fuel. Unfortunately he was transferred to ARINC LDOC freq 8933 which doesn't have any coverage on liveatc.net but at 200nm from BDA VOR he was instructed to call 128.5 which is covered by liveatc (ZNY Bermuda sector archive). Times are all messed up on flightaware but he was over CNNOR (New York WATRS/Miami boundary) at 2239z and routing up M328 which goes over BDA anyway. Map here: http://skyvector.com/

edit: typo & to add ZNY archive link.
